There's definitely something odd going on because every time the boss does the plunging attack, I can see that he also somehow "hits" the wall closest to him at the height he teleports.
I'm happy to go and get my save file but I'm not sure where I could upload it.
Hmm, maybe you're talking about the "Soul Warrior" who's actually considered a "mini-boss", does he look like this? http://hollowknight.wikia.com/wiki/Soul_Warrior
Soul Master's name *should* appear at bottom left of screen at start of fight (at about 0:16 in this vid but you may not want to watch if you haven't got there yet): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLBhKzHzdlM
It happens haphazardly, both on the ground in in the air. I have some footage where it happened but it's hard to pin-point after the fact. At one point my mid-air dodge was cut short, and at another point when walking away from the boss I stopped moving. The most obvious thing is when the boss manages to hit the wall despite being no-where near it.
I'll post a link once I've gotten it uploaded. I live rural so it'll take a while.

Unfortunately, I can no longer annotate the video to help highlight then I have the problems. You can hear the boss hitting the wall after he teleports into the air depsite not being near the wall a few times, and there's 1 instance each of my mid-air dash being cut short and walking but not moving. I'll try and pick out the minutes/seconds when this happens to make it easier.
At 1:25 somehow something clangs against the left edge of the screen a mile away from everyone.
1:30 again a clang against something at the edge of the screen for no reason.
1:50 "
1:52 "
2:11 "
2:12 "
2:18 "
2:28 "
Didn't notice arbitrarily shortened dashing. The above times are when something unknown clangs against something at the edge of the screen and these occurrences make zero sense.
