Edit: you get the ability to get through the dark barrier things fairly late in the game. In fact the way through them is entirely optional and not required to beat the game.
There are two ways you can get there, one is via Deepnest (if memory serves correctly) and another way is through the Queen's Garden. Try looking at your map and figure out the unexplored area that would eventually connect to the Dreamer's place.
As for the dark gates.. you won't disable them. You'll get the ability to dash through them later. Like the above poster said, it's optional.
This map shows how to get to the village where the dreamer is located, the lumafly lantern if required to get through a dark area but apart from that there should be no obstructions.
