I only play with mouse and keyboard, and the movement is tight and precise.
They are some of the best controls I ever had to play with. This game is very playable with them.
Then again, I play better with a keyboard. I tried both keybaords and controllers and I just play better with keyboards. So its prefernece I guess.
Up: W

Jump: Space

I personally love the default controls and they greatly resemble what I use for literally every other 2D game.
You may also encounter a glitch where you cant lock onto a wall surface, though I'm told that's again the game, not the keyboard implementation.
But those are relatively rare, you should be fine for the most part.
for some reason i found wasd + space (jump) keys and the mouse getup i have (Lclick=attack Rclick=dash Middleclick=focus) good enough to go through all that.
Anyway, the keyboard controls in this game are perfect. I own a DS4 controller, and I can't even imagine using it over a keyboard.
the game is totally worth getting, but is difficult and requires some practice to master the controls. dont fool yourself here and blame the game, or the device used to play the game, for the challenge it presents.
Key binding reconfiguration can be helpful if you have large hands or a small keyboard, as the controls are very close to one another. At the same time you need to have the controls close since you have to move quick and frequently. I have left the controls as is; they are very fluid.
Why would you have a computer without a keyboard? that is the what is truly confusing to me
