Is this game playable with keyboard?
Ive been using keyboard for ages and I dont own a controller. I heard people say keyboard controls are awful.

So should I avoid getting this game if I dont have a keyboard or is purely just preference?

Pure preference.

I only play with mouse and keyboard, and the movement is tight and precise.

doesnt matter if you use keyboard or not, the game is still great.with keyboard your movement is more accurate however the rest is up to your own skills

Excuse me, who on Earth told you the keyboard controls are awful?
They are some of the best controls I ever had to play with. This game is very playable with them.
Then again, I play better with a keyboard. I tried both keybaords and controllers and I just play better with keyboards. So its prefernece I guess.

Yep, is better for my opinion, but, only keyboard, no mouse:

Up: W
Down: S
Left: A
Right: D

Attack: M
Dash: LShift
Jump: Space
Quick Cast: K
Dream Nail: L
Focus: F

Yes it is, but you have to make your custom keybindings because the default one sucks.

Opinions.
I personally love the default controls and they greatly resemble what I use for literally every other 2D game.

Playable yes, though there may be some platforming part where you'll want to gouge out your eyes in frustration - at least there were for me. But I'd argue that's game/level design, not the m+k implementation.

You may also encounter a glitch where you cant lock onto a wall surface, though I'm told that's again the game, not the keyboard implementation.

But those are relatively rare, you should be fine for the most part.

Aye, as others said, it is. Have beaten all bosses up to the sage pantheon included (currently working on the last boss of the knight pantheon)...but yeah some parts can be a bit frustrating ^_^'

yep. i've gotten to a point where i've completed the game 112% and some of its harder optional challenges, with the seemingly unsupported mouse and keyboard mix.

for some reason i found wasd + space (jump) keys and the mouse getup i have (Lclick=attack Rclick=dash Middleclick=focus) good enough to go through all that.

I would certainly recommend making custom bindings. The important part: the game lets you do this out of the box.

Anyway, the keyboard controls in this game are perfect. I own a DS4 controller, and I can't even imagine using it over a keyboard.

Ive used both, and keyboard works well. You can remap anything so it comes down to preference.

I usually do boss fights on keyboard when I need focus and a lot of stunt action reflexes on my movement (just because I've been more used to keyboard on 2d games) with the default controls. I'm only just passing mantis lords and have maybe 1/3rd of the charms on my first playthrough. I started using xbox controller just yesterday for exploring and looking for stuff aside from bosses, and grinding geo. Controller takes some getting used to for me, but I'm getting the hang of it and can play longer with xbox over keyboard, but keyboard is great.

I haven't tried with a controller but it works well on keyboard. I didn't end up changing any of the bindings (arrow keys to move and left area of keyboard for attacks and abilities) and haven't had any complaints, except for the occasional 'accidentally cast spell when i meant to heal' and sometimes some stuff that I cant tell if it's my timing or a keyboard response thing. I'm at 105% completion atm.

The keyboard is great for controlling. particularly when you have dashmaster equipped. The game is great and plays like an oldschool castlevania. of course, your decision which option, keyboard or controller, is better will be based on preference.

the game is totally worth getting, but is difficult and requires some practice to master the controls. dont fool yourself here and blame the game, or the device used to play the game, for the challenge it presents.

Key binding reconfiguration can be helpful if you have large hands or a small keyboard, as the controls are very close to one another. At the same time you need to have the controls close since you have to move quick and frequently. I have left the controls as is; they are very fluid.

Why would you have a computer without a keyboard? that is the what is truly confusing to me

I Beat It 100% On Keyboard
