I know it' s really hard to come up with such revolutionary ideas. I'm just that good. ;-)
Anyway, I just tried it out in the Hall of Gods, where (at normal difficulty) the first phase is listed as having 450 HP and the second 600, and sure enough, when I tried fighting them by alternating hits, the first one died after I it it the 22nd time (441-->462 damage), after which the other one took 10 more hits (for a total of 31 or 630-->651 damage). When I concentrated on one, the first one still died after 22 hits and the second one took a full 31 hits to kill.
So yes, what Darc Vader said is correct; the second Oblobble just gets a fixed addition to their HP, and the total amount of damage you deal over the fight is the same regardless of whether you concentrate on one or divide your efforts.
