The time I quit to menu was in the Colosseum: My computer minimized the game to tell me about a windows update or something and apparently Hollow Knight doesn't pause if it loses focus. This just so happened to be during the part where the entire floor was spikes. I barely managed to get back to the game in time to avoid dying.
the only moment where I almost died was at the big champignons in fungal wastes.
I once died to Gruz Mother on a Steel Soul run, so yeah.
That, and my first ever "Soul Steel" run was even it. I had no idea the health bar was supposed to look different. Only realized after opening Jiji's cave (as I knew I should be seeing Jinn ibstead of Jiji) and I was like "waaaaait a moment, thus doesn't look right."
I was early game, wandering around the Fungal Wastes, managed to take a few hits, and as I was being chased by one of those explosive things I managed to slip and fall into acid. The only problem with that is that I respawned exactly where the exploding thing was, exactly as it was going to explode. Somehow still managed to get away, but that was quite the scare I got.
to a husk bully
i'm fine, i swear
