The Hollow Knight's hitbox.
So i recently completed the <5 hrs speedrun and by far the most difficult boss in the run is the Hollow Knight, which is perfectly fair given that he is an end boss. His damage is good and as a matter of fact i think his first 2 phases are too easy. However, his hitbox is extremely volatile throughout the fight due to his head movements making him an extremely inconsistent fight to head into. (esp considering the double jump skip + length of the fight due to lvl 2 nail)
Anyone else have a similar experience?

While I certainly I agree that the 5 hours speed run limit you in alot of ways, I didn't really feel any problems with his hitbox. He was certainly harder and it took me a couple of tries. I did it before the life and blood update, so I don't know if the update might've changed some things.

Yeah, I found myself missing my down slash a number of times when he slouches right before I would have hit. It's not really a hitbox inconsistency so much as he's just changing stance quite often. He's easy enough that I didn't really pay attention, but his slouching probably has some sort of pattern.

i think the only change with the lifeblood update was that his ground slam into beams does 2 masks, makes the end of the fight pretty tense. btw how many times did you have to quit before dying to get steel heart? :P im considering if its worth the effort.

yeah this is the exact experience im referring to. i didnt say it was a hitbox inconsitency though, just found that going into it with 5 masks and his head bobbing all over, it makes the fight itself a bit inconsistent.

I don't always take damage fighting The Hollow Knight. But when I do, it's because he falls on me.

I mainly struggled with Hornet and Watcher Knights otherwise it was pretty easy upto that point.

4-5 times... One time at watcher knight and another in queens garden. Platforming with 1 health remaining made me a little uneasy xD. Thats all I really remember. There might've been more or less even. I just don't remember that well since its quite a while ago.

Its just important to not overrestimate your own abilities and powers
