Hornet boss in greenpath

I've been struggling with this boss for about 2 hrs now, furthest I've manged to get is her first rest.
Any ideas to help?

Don't attack her that much. After she performs an attack, hit her 1 or 2 times and run away, preparing for her future attack.
She doesn't have much HP, even with this strategy where you hit her so rarely the fight shouldn't last longer than 2 minutes.

Just focus on staying alive without attacking first. You don't need to land a lot of hits for her to get staggered, so if you've only managed to stagger her once, you're not hitting her a lot yet anyway, and the focus on attack will probably distract you from paying attention to what she's doing to attack you. You need to be able to dodge her attacks to be able to attack effectively yourself, so figuring out how to do that should be your main priority, and it's easier to do if you don't focus on attacking. Once you have a better feel for what's happening, you can start throwing in slashes of your own.

(also, it goes without saying, but sound is important. Paying attention to what Hornet yells as she attacks will let you recognize attacks earlier)

A fast way is punish her by nail jumping when she does an attack on the ground (her dash and dive), when she rest just heal, don't attack. I think she rest like 2 or 3 times, i don't remember well.

When Hornet throws the needle on the ground, she is open to a counterattack.
I also agree with the advice to not attack as much unless you are comfortable doing it.

Most bosses in the game punish recklessly aggressive combat. Unless you have a really quick reaction, it's better to hit the boss once or twice and then take some distance to expect the next attack.

I agree wholeheartedly with Walking Spoiler (love the name, by the way!). Don't rush and remember that you'll have opportunities to self-heal if it gets rough. I'm curious about how it's going! :)

Yeah, this was the first boss that really hit me hard. i don't know what it was but it was a fun fight

Congrats on beating her! It took me over 20 hours the first time I did it lol bc I had no idea what to do. Have fun getting back into the game!
