That isn't the point, it should run at 144hz. Mine does, so should his. 144hz vs 60 is like day vs night, regardless of the game.
Odd problem for you, considering it works fine for me V-Sync'd to 120hz, if I'm remembering correctly. I'd have to double check next time I play, but I'm 89% sure it v-syncs properly.
Are you *sure* it's outputting 60? Because apparently "by default" the game outputs at 400fps. I had to manually edit the .ini so it would stop constantly using 100% of my GPU power. Edited it so that framecap was at 80 (picked because 60 was giving me stutters and I wondered if it should have a cleanly divisible framerate from its default) dropped it to like 70~% GPU use
Anyway, you can find config.ini in \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data. If it's already defaulted to 400 I imagine something's wrong on your end, either it's being automatically limited or whatever youre using to read fps is just lying.
Or maybe the code of the game is lying, never know with how messy code can be, but I cant imagine that's the case since me editing that number did help my issues, so idk.
I mostly just wanted to reply to this thread, so long after the fact, because it's really funny to me to see someone be bothered by "60fps lock" when I had to turn the fps down to a number higher than 60.
EDIT: Game no longer runs at 60 fps with medium blur, resetting to high and restarting.
✅ in hollow_knight_Data/Config.ini set the FrameRateCap to 120
✅ in game options turn VSync OFF and use Fullscreen YES
✅ make sure in Windows Settings > Display > Graphics Settings Hollow_Knight.exe always uses your dedicated Video Card instead of the integrated one (add it to the list)
I generally recommend Medium Blur quality. High is very intensive for the GPU.
First, sorry about my english.
4-5 years later but somebody could read this. It happened to me with warzone, capped at 60 fps... it took me weeks to figure out what was the problem. It was Xbox DVR activated (seems like xbox app need the game at 60 fps to make a clip). So, turn this option off.
