Sly's Second Phase
Okay, so I'm on the third Pantheon right now. And I can get through all the bosses pretty consistently. Except ♥♥♥♥ing Sly with his huge nail. His first phase I got down, but how the hell do I do his second phase? Like I already know to dash out of the way when he comes near me and retaliate with another hit when he's vulnerable, but most of the time, I get destroyed before I have any time to dash away. Am I missing something here or...? Maybe I have poor reaction time, or Sly is super fidgety, but I just can't with his second phase.

Edit: I finally beat the third Pantheon. And while I’m at it, I also completed ascended Sly as well. So thanks so much for the tips. Now... Pure Vessel is beating me down. (This game constantly challenges me.) Pantheon of Hallownest will take all my mental capacity to beat though...

if you get into his rythm the 2nd phase is easier than the 1st one

let him charge at you, don't stand left or right on the wall, middle-ish.
wait for him and then step aside in the opposite direction of his origin before he performs his circle slash.
You have a decent amount of reaction time with a bit of practice.
After the circle hit him once.

rinse and repeat. patience

It is poor reaction/read time on your end. He is actually very easy. Keep practicing in the Hall of Gods until you have his 2nd phase down. As stated try to stay in the center of the arena and when he comes towards you he should pause for a second before doing his spin attack so you dash away and then pause again before dashing away so you run up and slash him. If you can try to keep him somewhat above you so when he attacks you have the option to dash left or right. You can also equip sprint master to help your movement speed a bit. Also Great Slash can hep you reduce the amount of times you need to hit him and you might as well since you have down time inbetween his attacks.

I dunno. There's not a lot of reacting involved in that phase since you know exactly where Sly is at all times and can see where he's going. If he's ever in a position where he could potentially bounce towards you, just start walking away. If he jumps somewhere else, get back in position.

Just walk away from him. xD

But seriously, just walk in the opposite direction of where he's spazzing out and if he dashes to an area right on top of you shadow dash away. Land a hit everytime your within range and he's turned back into a bug as opposed to a saw blade. Mark of Pride or Longnail helps with this.

Your going to get a lot of great answers that really show off how to best Sly on ascended and above. That being said, if you really wanna beat Sly in the pantheon, stand in the corner and quickslash. Thats it, never once failed me on attuned or in the pantheons.

Rebember that nail art have long range. Stay in the middle and pay attention when he dashes to the middle, dash away from him and hit him with charged attack. It takes only 5 to 6 attacks to kill him.

Indeed, nail arts help here, and it's not like you don't have plenty of time to charge them.

This.... this actually just worked for me in Hall of Gods! Took a couple tries and went down to the last couple health bars, but... it actually worked. Still, I wish there was a video guide for how to do his stage 1 legitimately.

And Pantheon 3 is beaten with this trick!!!! Haha. Now just Pantheon 4 for the 112% achievement, and then that "Embrace the Void" achievement can taunt me unbeaten forever.

Nice. I beat it as well and managed Ascended Sly with these tips. Now Pure Vessel is kicking my ass now. :)

Yeah... That achievement being uncompleted is like a middle finger to achievement hunters like you and I. Will take me a while, if not forever.
