It's a platforming challenge to unlock a vessel fragment (Soul upgrade) You might be missing some of the mobility required to get to the end.
If it's the one below;
That's where you get the Sharp Shadow charm, locked behind a Shadow Gate.
I used that method also, others pogo horizonally. You can pogo upwards on the vertical centipede
Ah, right. That's not how the developers expected you to get across. In truth, you don't need the double jump in order to proceed there at all. The key is the game's little undocumented gimmick that when the knight slashes downwards in mid-air and hits something, he gets propelled upwards a bit (and his double jump and dash count resets) and that "something" can include spikes stuck to the floor and and invincible enemies. How the developers expected you to make your way to the point you are now was to jump into the pit while a centipede was underneath you and keep slashing downwards as it was travelling to the right. (the centipedes in this screen move a lot slower than the others in the deep nest for this particular reason)
I see now, thanks for that. Since I got the Monarchs the downward slash jump has gone on the back burner. I will go back there later, once I've finished The Hive.
