I mean, it wouldn't hurt to have a little more help against Pantheon of Hallownest or Nightmare King Grimm, Pure Vessel, etc. on Radiant difficulty in the Hall of Gods. None of this is stopping me from playing, but I really don't want to even attempt the Pantheon of Hallownest with no checkpoints. Most people don't just have time to burn away like that. It's a fun expansion, but starting over an hour-long boss rush is one of those things that sours a game for people.
You go in having a lot of fun, get really far, then die and have all of that progress wiped. Many people would give up and be mad at the game afterwards, which is not how you want to leave your customer if you were Team Cherry. The game is a masterpiece in every other sense; they just need to balance Godmaster so people aren't burnt out by it.
Not only I won't stand this punishing bullcrap difficulty, but also won't waste my time on replaying the same bit of the game without infinite health, because insanely flawed level and boss mechanics imply that's the only sane way of playing in such conditions.
I'm not saying anything is flawed about the bosses, on the contrary, they're all a ton of fun and beatable with practice, just that it'd be nice if the Pantheons saved our progress, or that they brought glorified charms back to give us things to earn while we're getting wrecked.
It's a boss rush, that's how it's supposed to work. The intended challenge is to go through the set of bosses in a row without dying and if you do die then you get to start over. That's the entire point, And it's also supposed to be harder than the rest of the content in the game. It's a pantheon to the gods and Hollow Knight's final big challenge. It's intended to be the most difficult thing yet that takes a massive amount of skill to beat.
