Anything I have to do/get before Broken Vessel ?
I bumped into Broken Vessel in the Ancient Bassin, I didn't engage him and logged out the moment the fight started, because I saw that you cannot get back out of the Ancient Bassin without some kind of flying ability (I guess that's what Broken Vessel is guarding.). Can I do the fight safely, or should I grind some things before going down there in case I stay stuck on the boss ? (I examined his patterns before logging out, he doesn't seem difficult until he starts headbanging to his musical theme). Lorewise he seems pretty important so does beating him too early lock me out of any previous lore ?

The only thing You can lock in this game is ending, if you go straight for "true" ending, then first will be locked.
Beside that You can beat any boss at any time, and whole map will be open all the time.
There are also NPCs choices but it has nothing to do with bosses.
So yea go and beat his tiny ass :hollowknight:

You can leave without flying abilty, you just need to be a bit more precise when jumping up between the spikes in the way back. As for locking stuff out, there's a character you won't be able to talk to after defeating Broken Vessel or killing a Dreamer. The entrance to his area can be found behind a breakable wall in Fungal Wastes (in a room where you can find a charm). And also, make sure you opened the shortcut at the Ancestral Mound at the Forgotten Crossroads.
Thanks for the advice, I talked to the bug in Fungal Wastes, but I am lost as while exploring the royal waterways I met TWO bosses, the Flukemarm and the Dung Defender... Broken Vessel is the one to do next tho ?

There is no fixed "order" to beat the bosses, but the Broken Vessel blocks the path to an useful ability, so it is a good choice beating him next.

Not any more than most bosses. Just yet another corpse infected by the light.

I'd advise to go and beat him asap. The ability it guards is quite useful, whether for plateforming or for boss fights, and he's not that hard to beat.
I defeated the Dung Defender first (That was so fun, doma, doma, domadomadoma BAAAAAA HUNDAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!) then I went straight down and downed Broken Vessel on my first real try. Thanks for the advice.

BTW should I go to Deepnest yet ?

Congratz.

With the dash and the double jump most of the map is open to you (I assume that if you defeated Dung Defender it means that you cleared Royal Waterways which means that you got Isma's tear? If not, you may want to get it).

Personally I wouldn't go to deepnest right now but to Kingdom's edge, but the order in which you clear areas doesn't really matter that much at this stage, it's just that there's still one ability you're missing still and the way to gain access to it is in Kingdom's edge (although the ability itself is somewhere else), but again, most of the map is now accessible to you, so if you want to explore deepnest you can.
I don't want to tell you too much because i don't know how much you want to know versus how much you want to explore by yourself.

If you haven't upgraded your nail to level 3, you might want to do that.

Gl & hf.

I think I'll start by the Mantis Lords. With the Monarch Wings dodging should be no problem.

I would like to know which zone lets me into Kingdom's Edge tho, wherever that is.

Kingdom's edge can be accessed through the second part of City of Tears (which you may or may not have already accessed through an exit of Royal Waterways), to the east of City of Tears, through an abandoned Stag Station you can find a hidden pathway to Kingdom's edge.
It can also be accessed through Ancient Basin, but you'll need to take the tramway (and the tramway has to be unlocked with the tram pass, which is in deepnest).

A third way to access Kingdom's edge is through the elevator, which is also in the second part of City of Tears.
Thanks, I'll go and check that area out. When I've defeated those mantis girls who find it appropriate to 2V1 people with a height disadvantage...

Good luck.

I forgot that there's also a fourth way to Kingdom's edge directly from the Royal Waterways, but if I remember correctly it's hidden behind a breakable wall in the area where you get Isma's tear.

Also, the passage in the elevator shaft may not be accessible directly through the shaft, maybe you need to break it from the other side, which would make it more of an "exit" than an "entrance" as long as you haven't broken it from the other side, I don't remember, but I guess you'll see for yourself.
Thanks for all the advice, I defeated the Mantis Lords, and have found Kingdom's Edge. I just found Hornet again in there.

Congratulations about the Mantis Lords. They are quite a challenge for players that reach this battle for the first time. I think you will have no problem beating Hornet in this second encounter.

you should play on your own pace, there's no correct order to do stuff, just play as you will and you won't lose anything. deepnest is very very fun and relaxing so just do it. again, there's no correct order to anything. play the game the way you want! :)
