Hollow Knight v1.4.2.8 available on Public Beta for Windows PC
Hey Everyone,

Version 1.4.2.8 of Hollow Knight is now available for Windows PC players on the public beta branch.

Accessing Public Beta:
  1. Right-click on 'Hollow Knight' in the library and click 'Properties'
  2. Select the 'Betas' tab in the window that pops up
  3. Select 'public-beta-' from the dropdown menu
  4. Download should start automatically!

Changelog:
  • Fixed issue with GM's final boss where attack would telegraph in wrong position
  • Improved visibility of one of that boss's attacks
  • Fixed issue where completing Trial of the Fool did not unlock God Tamer's statue in Hall of Gods
  • Fixed file select screen display issue
  • Game Text fixes

Godmaster Changes:
  • Godmaster boss 'PV' gets stunned more frequently
  • Lifeblood Cocoons in Godhome produce more Lifeseeds
  • Trial of the Fool is no longer a requirement for accessing Pantheon of the Sage
  • Reduced HP of Godmaster's final battle
  • Reduced Markoth's HP in Godmaster battles
  • Several changes to Uumuu's Godmaster incarnation:
    • Reduced Uumuu's HP
    • Uumuu calls for Uoma more often
    • Uoma rise more slowly
    • Uumuu's speed down
    • Explosions do more damage to Uumuu
    • Reduced the size of the explosion hitbox that damages hero
    • Extended vulnerability time for Uumuu
    • Greatly reduced recoil on Uumuu when getting hit by an explosion

Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed issue where Hornet Sentinel could get stuck in corner of her Godhome arena
  • Fixed issue in final battle of Godmaster where a respawn could place player in the wrong location, ruining the battle
  • Fixed issue where nail arts could lose their ability to damage enemies
  • Fixed issue where a mechanism could be struck while it was retracted into the ground in Godhome
  • Fixed issue where players could use Dreamgate to warp out of ending sequence and bust the game
  • Fixed timer display issues for main game and Godmaster pantheons
  • Fixed Moss Charger's rustling grass not appearing
  • In Mantis Village, disallowed enemies from approaching the Mantis Claw item to prevent possible softlock
  • Game text fixes in certain languages

What if you've already done the Fixed issue where a mechanism could be struck while it was retracted into the ground in Godhome. Is it going to be fixed? or is that save file broken?

Uumuu was a bit overnerfed imo, buffing him back a little bit couldn't hurt. My suggestion would be to leave the changes where Uumuu calls for the uoma more often, the reduced explosion hitbox of the uoma and the extended vulnerability time for Uumuu. Remove the rest of the nerfs other than the ones I mentioned. It would make the boss more difficult than it is now in the beta, but less rng dependent than it was before. Glad to see you're fixing some of absolute radiance's bugs tho.
Please don't put checkpoints like people are begging for you to add. It'd take most of the challenge and fun out of it. It wouldn't even be a bossrush if it had checkpoints.

This guy can't even get any of the hard achievements in the game and is heckling because Uumuu needed a tweak? That fight has too much RNG, takes more time than harder bosses, and most importantly isn't fun at all. He definitely needed tweaks, maybe not this many but it's a step in the right direction.

Would it be possible to have "Salubra's Blessing" stop making noise after your soul meter is filled? It's really annoying that he just keeps yelling in my ears when I'm thinking about what charms I want to use and or what combinations could be fun.

When someone asked about this in an AMA on reddit, their official response was: "Don't worry, you've earned that blessing and we would never take it away from you"

The mask shards are not filled in in you inventory when in Godseeker mode (not that it really matters):

The checkpoint idea could work, if the checkpoints only got set if the bench was sat on. That way the elitists could ignore it, but us mere mortals wouldn't have to trek through 20-40 minutes of bosses whenever we die. win-win?

At this point I have the feeling that Team Cherry don't care at all for the majority of the player base who have been basically screaming for a change of Salubra's blessing since forever and, more recenlty, for a more accessible version of Godhome.

It seems like there are just as many saying they prefer it this way as there are people asking for checkpoints. On top of the fact that all of the comments (good and bad) don't add up to even a small fraction of the player base (for reference, they've sold more then 1M copies on Steam alone, even before Godmaster). Honestly, I'm getting my butt kicked by Godmaster but I'm enoying this level of difficulty anyway.
