I noticed that you can take your time if you want to play it safe, and try to go in for a hit or two when he does his spinning attacks. Overall if you stay away from him and just try to dodge his nails, that should give you some safety, but i'm not sure if you want to make the fight last that long on radiant...
I assume you know the obvious stuff like going full offensive and overcharming, have you tried a spell build? I feel like most of my damage comes from spells against him. Otherwise i'd go for nail damage and range, maybe a Grubberfly's Elegy build. You could also try glowing womb and grimmchild but you'll still need to go in to recharge soul... doubt it will work well.
I'd say don't forget you can use the walls for extra mobility.
- Longnail
- Mark of Pride
- Unbreakable Strength
- Soul Catcher
- Shaman Stone
At the start of the fight I went super aggressive on him, trying to get quick 8 or so hits on him. If you die that early on you can just quickly retry again. After that kept hitting him with the nail (at opportune times) until the second shield pops up, then used all mana to shade soul him (while he was doing the shield spinning attack). He took a few more careful nail hits after that to die.
If you hit him with shade soul when he isn't near the corners he seems to get hit twice, while near the edges it just hits him once. I found the top platforms a good place to stand on and hop over the swords if I ever needed to catch my breath and get control of the situation again. Wait for the sword to appear, make a small hop over it, repeat.
My strategy was to only go for careful dash slashes during his regular "spam nails" phase as well as in the end of his "rotate shield" pahse. BUT dont use spells for this first part of fight.
Once he adds another shield, keep dodging nails and wait for the "rotate shields" phase again and then spam out all your Shade Souls. Hopefully it will be enough to finish him off. Otherwise you'll have to sneak in more dash slashes.
