Also, I always thought it might be based on the song In the Hall of the Mountain King. Maybe I'm just imagining it but to me it sounds kinda similar. In the Hall of the Mountain King is also used as an inspiration for many other great themes like Kaiki's theme in the Monogatari series who is one of my favorite characters in that show. So to me Cornifer's song is connected to a whole lot of other stuff I love which makes it even better.
I also noticed I have the habit of bunny hopping around the Grubs when I save them and sayhing "Friendo! Friendo!"
Hi ! I have the same conclusion that you. When I started my search I found that it's also the main theme in Luigi's Mansion and it's a part of the ghouls 'n ghosts' stage 4 theme. i don't know where I could find an official confirmation.
