The Lifeblood Core isn't even that difficult to get, its just late-game. The door isn't that far from a bench, in fact there are 3 benches in close proximity to it. You don't even need all of the Mask Shards to get it(just most of them), so long as you have Fragile Heart, Lifeblood Heart, and Joni.
That said, I have actually used it for some bosses before getting Lifeblood Core, since there are some fights where I just couldn't find a good time to heal.
I actually noticed they changed how the cost for charm_36(Kingsoul/Void Heart) is calculated. Before, changing this value affected Void Heart, but Kingsoul was hard-coded... now that has been reversed so that Kingsoul can be changed, but Void Heart is hard-coded, which is much more useful.
I'm lowering Flukenest to 2(I'd actually leave it at 3 if I could figure out where its damage value is and increase it), Deep Focus to 3, Hiveblood to 3, Fury to 1, Heavy Blow to 1, and Kingsoul to 4.
Unfortunately my DLL editor keeps giving me false-positives for errors when trying to recompile the code. So I just have to keep closing it, then re-open it, then navigate to the line of code I need to edit, until it randomly realizes that there is no error.
Also, at 2 it's strictly better than Lifeblood Heart... but Lifeblood Heart is also terrible.
If the code is really simple, like the charm costs(Charm costs are somewhat annoying for another reason, because they're stored in the "SetupNewPlayerData" section of the DLL, so without writing your own code, the edited charm costs will only apply to new saves), then its no big deal to just edit it. Though I still do have locate the code that affects what I need to change.
Lifeblood Heart would be too strong at just 1 notch. At 2 notches, it's strictly worse than Unbreakable Heart, or Lifeblood Core, but those are late-game.
You are able to get Lifeblood Heart at around the same time that you can get Fragile Heart, and I think both are balanced fine in their own way. Both give the same amount of health for the same amount of notches. FH gives actual health that can be healed, but breaks if you die(In Steel Soul, FH's drawback doesn't matter, so its strickly better than LH under that circumstance). LH gives temp health that can't be healed, and it also provides some protection for Grubberfly's Elegy.
The reason I hate Joni's Blessing is that it takes up more space than Lifeblood Core, despite being worse for a number of reasons.
EDIT: Intriguing, this must be what they changed about Joni's Blessing in the Lifeblood Update. Right now it gives 140% health, rounded up to 4. Prior to Lifeblood Update it gave 150% health, rounded up to 5.
Unlike the 140% hp boost, I'd say the 150% hp boost is definitely worth more than 2 notches, but I still hesitate to say that its worth 4 notches. So, 3 it is!
5/4 dmg per fluke for 2 notches(post-nerf dmg value with pre-nerf cost)
or
7/5 dmg per fluke for 3 notches(pre-nerf dmg value with post-nerf cost)?
I will most likely forgo the the stats of the original Flukenest(9/6 dmg per fluke), because that was way too powerful.
