Basically the remaining slots after having equipped Steady body, quick slash, mark of pride and compass. depends on the situation.
The rest of the charms in the previous posts I also recommend (including Steady Body even though most people find unhelpful because they get used to the knockback). A few other recommendations from me (depending on what scenario you're in):
Weaversong + Grubsong + Glowing Womb + Defender's Crest
As of the latest update, combine Weaversong with Grubsong and your free spawning weaver friends will generate SOUL for you whenever they hit an enemy. Combined with Glowing Womb, this creates a steady supply of SOUL to summon baby attack flies. Defender's Crest is also helpful for causing passive damage to enemies, and it makes the attack flies explode on impact. It's not very efficient for dealing tons of damage, but it's a fun and lazy build! :D
Since it only takes up six notches, you still have 4-5 notches for whatever else you'd like. Soul Catcher is always useful, Dreamshield or Grimmchild for a bit of extra damage (and Dreamshield can protect you from hits), Mark of Pride to hit enemies without getting too close. I also personally like Sharp Shadow for evading and attacking enemies at once.
I wholly agree with you! The indirect damage setup is one of the best staple charm setups in the game, to me at least. Although I perfer an army of minions, glowing womb excluded, to things like defender's crest. But that's one the many amazing things about this game, any given charm is usefull to some degree, even if it's solely entertainment.
Personal setup: Grimchild, Dreamshield, Weaversong, Sprintmaster, Grubsong, Long nail. The above quote says most of it and I just like Long nail.
Random question: How many of you use Carefree Melody? I never gave myself the time to properly use it and I would like to hear about some situations with it.
- Nailmaster's Glory
- Quick Focus
- Soul Eater
- Shaman Stone
Since you often get a rather short amount of time to strike out at bosses, I wanted to deal as much damage per swing as I possibly can. The range of Nail Arts meant that I could also slash without having to get in very close, so I was less likely to get hit. Quick Focus helped me out since I was so, so awful at the game the first time I played it, along with the additional soul gained through Soul Eater. (Which paired alongside Shaman Stone to encourage me to use spells in fights, too.)
