Stuck after the first two bosses

Usually I like to figure out stuff on my own, but now I was wondering around the map for one hour and always getting into dead ends where I need specific abilities (I suppose)
The only thing I assume would help me is the city symbol (idk how its called in english) which I have in my inventory. The description says that it can be used to put it into something.

I also farmed 950 souls to buy the key just to find out that it doesnt help me at all.

Oh and will I get back to the beginning at some point? There was one hidden place with a lot of spikes and I found out how to use the melee attack to jump over them.

okay so follow the signs for the city till you reach a bridge with hornet near it, you cant cross yet, so go back and go till you find the mantis village

After the boss near the center of the forgotten crossroads map, you should have continued to the left and gained the Vengeful Spirit spell. It is required to defeat an enemy on the left side of the forgotten crossroads map that is immune to melee attacks. This will lead you to the next area of the map.

I think you beat False Knight and Hornet, so you have to make your way to the new area called Fungal Wastes, to reach it you have to cross Fog Canyon which can be accessed by Greenpath (If you see great bubbles, you are on the good way), you will reach a new stag station which is in the Fungal Wastes. There is another way to reach Fungal Wastes which is at the bottom from Forgotten Crossroads but you won't reach the stag station directly.

Okay I just watched a walkthrough.
I wasnt stuck. I was just stupid or the game bugged at that moment I was there.
When going the Greenpath there comes a room with two bricks hanging from the ceiling. I first thought they belong together and if I raise one I lower the other one. But Ive also tried attacking them from any direction. Apparently I just had to cut the rope and got unlucky that I probably just hit it on the wrong point. Nothing happened for me and I thought I have to come back later.

But still thanks for trying to help me :D

i finally located the vengeful spirit spell and defeated the dude who i needed it for. it didn't lead me to a new area that im aware of, it jus lead me back out of the temple and back into the same dead ends and the stupid elevator with a locked door at the bottom of all these dead ends. i will probably figure it out soon. but man i did not expect to be this stuck and lost constantly for this game.

Hey, if you haven't figured it out yet, there's an extra long room in the Forgotten Crossroads with a bunch of flying creatures in it. One of the openings on the left leads to an area with the creature you had to kill after getting Vengeful Spirit, and past it is a new area
