Which Grimm Troupe charm is better?
Fully-upgraded Grimmchild or Carefree Melody?
Now, I did plan to beat Nightmare King; but should I beat him on my normal save, or should I create a copy and beat him on it, and banish the troupe on normal save?
I don't care that much about Divine or Nymm; I just want to know which charm is better.

Well, if you choose Carefree Melody, you would no longer be able to acquire the Unbreakable Charms.

Here's what Carefree Melody does:
After getting hit once, there is a 10% chance that the charm will negate the damage. Each time the charm fails to block a hit, the chance of activating increases by 10 to 20%. The chance cannot go higher than 90%, and resets the chance after a successful block. And while it can block any amount of damage, you will still take knockback, and it still requires getting hit at least once before it can activate in the first place.

The Awakened Grimmchild is better IMO, and the Ritual is objectively better.
It will constantly fire projectiles at enemies that do 11 damage each. Though the targeting system is currently buggy, it will be fixed in the future.

Grimmchild lets you focus on dodging boss attacks more because the minion attacks stuff for you. I never used carefree melody. I got it for my steel soul run, but I only did it to pick up the last 1% for my 100% achievement. You should try out NKG just because it's more content.

Id defenitly say grimmchild.

Just as with many other games, the more skillful you become, the least defensive\protective abilities you need. So yeah, at some point you'd want more damage fast rather than a safety net.
Not to mention, having an RNG mechanic is.. well RNG - you can't 100% rely on it.

The only scenario, melody can theoretically be worth the while is a stipulation run with deliberate overcharming.

PS: oh, and then there is the whole, "miss out on a super fun and challening boss" thing

I did say that if I picked Melody, I'd make a copy of my save to fight NKG.

And alright. I'll pick Grimmchild. Thank you all.

This is actually the reason I asked this question in the first place. Since Grimmchild was bad at targeting enemies, I wasn't sure if I wanted it. Now that I know it'll be fixed, I won't even concider picking Carefree Melody anymore. Thanks.

Currently the Grimmchild's projectile has a weird hitbox, so it will often hit terrain when aiming at smaller enemies. One potential way to fix this would be to make the projectile ignore terrain, similar to the Shade Soul spell.
It also has trouble targeting flying enemies, due to their movement patterns.
The most confusing thing is how it will lock on to certain objects in the environment. I have seen it attempt to target the center on the Greenpath Hornet arena, and the moth statue in the Glade of Hope.

If you banish the troupe, Divine will still be there; only Grimm's own tent disappears. The unbreakable charms cannot be missed.

This is actually wrong. If you choose to banish the troupe, Divine disappears along with them (and if she's eaten any of your charms, you'll find it where her tent was). She only stays if you choose to fight NKG.

Hm. I must've gotten it confused with the main tent disappearing after you beat NKG.

Honestly, they should allow us to get both charms. It just feels awful to a perfectionist to have to chose between two different options.
