Actualy there isnt that many of those. What a waste of a hero's life.
...that's not exactly better.
Actually i think the good ones are the normal one and Dream no more since in sealed siblings you leave a seal on the door, that means the door is meant to be opened again. Also if you don't have the void heart (only the normal ending is obtainable) the white lady explicitly tells you that you are completely empty and pure and you can contain raadiance forever saving the kingdom.
That dialogue changes when you get the void heart, at that point it's saving the kingdom forever and getting rid of all light or being trapped temporarily until you get replaced like the other hk did.
Tho thats a bit of a theory, everything is at this point, and this one has a pretty solid foundation.
Thats why we have a spoiler chat man, if this was spoilers we would write normally. It's always better to not ruin the experience for people who didn't play the game in time, it is not fair, just becuase they arrived late to the party doesn't mean we should ruin it for them.
People has other games to play, or irl things, not everyone has unlimited time to play everything early.
Anyway, i just realy wish there was the happy ending. A real happy one, not what we have in currently existing ones.
I loved the Dream No More ending as it is. It feels cathartic as hell giving the thing responsible for everything a good beating and dragging it straight to hell, and the melancholic tone right after was great contrast. Hollow Knight and Sealed Sibling are debatable in how permanent a solution they really are. The White Lady implies that it theoretically will work, but the threat is still there and Hornet seems like she would much rather you get rid of the Radiance altogether (plus in one of them she gets trapped in there permanently with you, willingly or otherwise). In Dream No More, you seem to lose physical form and the tone is melancholic, but I'm pretty sure by that point you became a god of the Void or something, so maybe it's not too bad a deal.
Plus the Hollow Knight is supposed to be devoid of emotion anyway. It along with its siblings were made to deal with the Radiance, and I'm pretty sure one of the conditions for being pure Void is that it must be free of thoughts and feelings. It does its job, it goes back to sleep. Cold? Yeah probably. But it's not like the Hollow Knight is capable of feeling grief or sadness anyway (supposedly. I mean I heard compelling evidence that suggest it has free will, but the White Lady said it's pure so I'll go with that), so on a coldly logical level, it's no great loss unless they people who know it feels sad about its "passing".
But you know, some of those higher beings could've reward him with those for his doings, for at least a while.
I also didn't say the original endings are bad in any way, the contrast of feelings it gives is surely impressive.
I do agree that there should have been a bit more of a pat on your back at least. I like the brevity of the endings, but it wouldn't go amiss to have them be just a tad less ambiguous and brief.
Well, they actually did (not intentionally tho) with one of the vessels, but it didn't go very well.
I believe it was the Hollow Knight (as in the boss). It can be inferred that the Pale King raised it as his own child. There are several supporting evidence, such as the cradle in the White Palace, the cutscene at the end of Path of Pain (as well as the resulting "Seal of Binding", which "preserves something of great importance", implying that the memory is dear to the Pale King) and several lines cut from the game (there are files indicating that one of the Hollow Knight's thoughts if you dreamnail him is simply "father?". Though this was cut, it is consistent with the other evidence). The implication is that the Pale King felt bad about sacrificing the Hollow Knight to seal the infection, so he chose to give it a childhood and a life before it had to make the final sacrifice (least that's how I choose to read it). This gesture led the Hollow Knight to grow beyond its intended function and became "impure" and incapable of containing the Radiance. One can make the case that similar things may happen to the player character if others try to treat it like an actual person.
