map not filling in

I bought the quill and I'm going through areas that I know aren't on the map and they still aren't fillin in sup with that

The map won't update until you either rest at a bench or die. It's a little weird at first, but you get used to it.

I don't think I would've realized that for a while if I wasn't told about it

Yeah, it's an unusual map system, but I kind of like how it keeps the sense of exploration until you find a checkpoint but still fills in if you die so you can make your way back easily.
