Dream Gate Realization
So I arrive at the Colosseum with plans on acquiring the two items from the first two trials only to realize oh ♥♥♥♥ I better save Zote in Deepnest first. Then I decide to set a dream gate at the colosseum before traveling to Deepnest. I get to Deepnest do the deed and realize well now I can just dream gate out of here and do the trials. It felt so horrible stealing the terror and anxiety from deepnest with a quick travel mechanic :( in the end I did it old school ♥♥♥♥ that dream gate.

i think the dreamgate is better used if you try a boss 15 times..
Going through an area is one of the more enjoyable parts of the game, but doing the same part of a level over and over again isn't. I think that's what the dreamgate really is for ;)

Every part of traveling in Hollow Knight is great enough that I don't want to skip it even taking the stag sometimes feels bad.

I tend to dreamgate out of deepnest if I'm just doing cleanup for one or 2 things, but it is best to do it early on so things are actually threatening (especially nosk.)

My current playthrough flow puts it after Crystal Peak but before Royal Waterways. Good times when dirt carvers were everywhere and carver hatchers were nuts.

Nah ♥♥♥♥ Deepnest. Winding, dark tunnels and the map is useless? Once is enough.

Literally the best aspects of Deepnest :)

YMMV. I certainly loved Deepnest and all if its aspects. The chilling atmosphere, the creepy way things moves, the dark, winding tunnels, Cornifer's cowering in fear and the resulting map being nearly entirely incomplete when purchased as opposed to having at least a few rooms marked like most other maps, the map being somewhat less helpful in general, the buried mysteries, the delight of discovering a secret location suddenly being filled with dread as you find yourself following a doppleganger... it was all quite a unique experience and made it feel very different from all the other areas... in a *good* way. But... that's just MY opinion. It's very easy to see all the reasons why someone might NOT like the area.

You needn't have bothered. I found out my last time through that Zote will eventually show up at the Colisseum, even if you never save him in Deepnest. And if you do the first Trial without him, it will just end before the last fight.

I don't feel bad about using Dream Gate once I'm on the 107% completion path. It speeds things up considerably, and nothing can really kill me at that point anyway. I mean, whne you kill a watcher knight before it can even start spinning, you know your damage is super high.

I believe the only dream gate I used was planting one right outside the room where you get rewards for dreams. It is a slightly out of the way place, and climbing that room is just bleh. Otherwise, I believe I only used one other spot and then switched the gate back to that room again.

The traveling isn't difficult enough to make people use a dreamgate, and only having one dreamgate available keeps it from being as useful as the stag gates.

Right but as far as the progression I wanted goes I wanted to complete those two trials before other things and wanted to fight Zote at the end of the first trial. It was pretty awesome because on my way back I went through the Hive. I enjoyed all the updates to that area immensely I really missed the Hive Guardians doing to masks of damage and the Hive Knight was an interesting twist on some already fought bosses (Mantis Lords, Hornet and False Knight).

Are you referring to the ancient basin room? Because the Seer gives the dream rewards and that room is super simple to climb and is right next to a stag station. Traveling is enjoyable enough to make people not use dream gates :)
