How can there possibly be no achievement for Path of Pain?
Caveat that I realize achievements are ultimately meaningless. That being said, this game *does* have them, some for obscure things within the game. So why the heck isn't there one for completing the masocistic nightmare that is Path of Pain in White Palace? It's optional, it's absurdly difficult, and it's exactly the kind of insane challenge taylor made for "I survived this game's nightmare portion, and all I got was this lousy achievement". Curious omission, Team Cherry.

There is something you CAN show off to prove you've done it. It's in the Hunter's Journel. But it is curious why it's not an acheivement. Maybe it unlocks something special later. Perhaps in Gods and Glory? Most likely not, but that would be cool.

IMHO: Some people are borderline obsessed with getting 100% achievements. And if there was one locked behind an excruciatingly difficult level, they'd most likely whine and complain rather then ehm.. git gud.

This, combined with the fact that there’s basically nothing in the game to even tell you the Path of Pain is even there makes it seems Team Cherry wanted it to be truly optional. It’s only there for those who want an incredibly difficult platforming challenge and having absolutely nothing behind it reflects that.

Eh, I guess that makes sense. Still, the true achievement ♥♥♥♥♥♥ manage. Or cheat.

I highly doubt that 100%-ing Steel Soul mode can be compared to raw completing of PoP.

If you just quit out every time you’re at risk of dying, then the challenge of Steel Soul is gone. If you actually risk dying the difficulty goes up quite a bit, still not exactly close difficulty wise short term, but the long term difficulty of not being able to afford a major screw-up is on par imo.

I wouldn't mind it being an achievement, though I can see why it isn't. I am a bit obsessed with getting 100% to the games I really enjoy, so it hurts my feelings seeing you say that we would whine :v

If we cannot get an achievement, no matter how hard it is to get it, we do not deserve it. Only those who truely devote themselves should have it. Basically im saying that imo, if you truely are obsessed with getting 100% completion. You will earn it. Not cheat to it. Thgouh that might just be me.

Well I doubt they meant that literally everyone would be that way. Also their opinions may have changed over the last 3 years.

Edit: also with PoH existing now, I think the point stands more than ever. I felt compelled to complete it to get back to my 100% achievements, while I have very little desire to go back and finish the Radiants since there’s no achievement for it (though I also only have 1 left so I still do want to do it).

My motivation is that I understand there's still some story/lore related reveal left after doing all the Radiant fights (no spoilers please - even if you think it'll be a disappointment, just let the disappointment be a surprise for me, thanks). I certainly wouldn't bother with them otherwise, even as preparation to go back and finish PoH.

I enjoy somewhat tough but (mostly) fair platforming like Path of Pain, so I have done PoP lots of times (usually once I'm done with a file I used for doing a pseudo-speedrun, I mess around and end up doing PoP on the same save before deleting it). I don't mind the lack of an achievement. Fact is, it's really short and you get lots of breaks and infinite soul for healing (or literal infinite healing for people who use Hive Blood). I would rather have had a bigger story reveal than an achievement, tbh.

That makes sense, I’m kind of the same way, though I’m also somewhat of a completionist for completion’s sake.

Fair enough. I can relate! I'm kind of torn about whether I'll do a certain achievement in the more retro-styled metroidvania, Alwa's Awakening. I'm sure I could complete the game in under 2 hours. I could probably beat the game with under 5 deaths if I'm careful. But BOTH in one run? That's kind of a tall order (and if I do it, I won't be using the game's assist mode). :steamsalty:

It's just for bragging rights. If you manage to get the Weathered Mask from Godmaster, you unlock the Hunter's Journal if you haven't talked to him already. In the Hall of Gods, there is also a Void Idol from killing/defeating each god on Attuned, Ascended, and Radiant difficulties . All of the awards are cosmetic, meant for you to show off your combat abilities.
