They don't stun lock you or take away controls, these are the mechanics I would call cheap.
On the other hand, you have a ranged spell, a dash slash art and some homing minions at your disposal to deal with these enemies.
"AIDS game design" seems more than a little too harsh.
I completed the area hours ago, the boss was a joke. But it doesn't change the fact it was tedious and not fun. FUN. The entire point of a game.
Actually those teleport enemies not too hard to deal with since they only teleport in some pattern because A.I. in Hollow Knight is non existence. Usually they will teleport in the opposite direction the knight face at.
Same with the Soul Mustard/Soul Tyrant he will teleport left or right depend on the knight's position so you can easy predict where he gonna teleport next.
If you want to finish 100% of the game get used to their teleport mechanic your salt won't help you win the game.
Uh - several? I don't have a count, because unlike you, I couldn't care less.
It is a sign of quality, and of good design, if you can repeat a fight a number of times, determine the pattern the enemy follows, and counter it with the abilities your character has.
This is also what I personally like to call 'real difficulty' - unlike fake difficulty, which is just randomness.
Teleport Guy isn't particularly hard compared to several other enemies. I tried the Hornet fight well above 20 times before I had it down. Now I look forward to fighting her again.
For Teleport Guy, use the platforms for cover, close with your dash, get back out before he shoots you. Or, since he's week, ignore his attacks, power him down quickly, and heal off easier enemies.
While entirely true, it doesn't invalidate the discussion. The topic seems to be:
Are teleporting enemies bad game design?
And the answer - for everyone who doesn't happen to be the OP - appears to be:
Nah
