Lost 6000 geo @ deepnest
This is the worst. I think I'm just gonna find a trainer to get my geo back. And I've never used cheats in anything. Killed by a new bug blocking a path. The one that charges into you and multi-hits you. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ combo into spikes. Wtf were they thinking?

Way to kill my enjoyment.

Edit: I see you already cheated the money back into your inventory. Cheers! Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't allowed to cheat in a single player non competative game. Who cares, it's your game that you spent money on, and if cheating helps you to enjoy it, then good for you. Personaly I do cheat in games when I feel like it would just be an unecessary time sink otherwise, or when I felt like I lost something I feel like I should still have because of dumb reasons.

And to think, I've always been against cheating. Because I absolutely love difficult, brutal gameplay, and grinding out and getting the satisfaction. But...
I just don't have the time/patience anymore to deal with things and farm like a good christian boy.

It's really enjoyable without that slight 'stress' in the back of my head of worrying I might lose too much geo. But meh, I like me a challenge so I'll grind out bosses all day after banking the money and knowing I won't have to resort to farming

When down to 1-2 health .... just quit. You'll respawn at the last bench you used with all your stuff.
Don't die. It's annoying, and potentially expensive.
Although, in boss fights, I'm honestly sometimes too slow to find the menu button on my controller.

+1
I'll definitely be doing that. I've thought about it, but I keep forgetting. If it gets far too dangerous, quitting and restarting is the safe move. I wish I could purchase things straight from the bank tho.
"Bill me, Bug" and the money gets deducted from my bank lulz

With regards to the stalking devouts, (the thing that killed you), they have an armored face mask, and counterattack if you hit it or them with a very far-reaching 2-damage slashing attack.
Their attack is slower if you wait for them to initiate it, and their attack removes their armor, giving you the chance to hit.
Magic and the dreamshield can hit through their faceplates, but they will still try to counterattack you, I think, so be ready to dash away.

Thanks, I actually just started going around them though. Ah well

You come to the steam fourms to ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan and someone tells you how to fix your problem and you tell them to shut the ♥♥♥♥ up. Shut the ♥♥♥♥ up.

that multi-fram cheap shot bug yo're talking about, is it the big one with the claw mask thing? You're suppose to wait for it to open its face and dash out from the attack. I also thought i had to parry every single hit too.

just so you know, directly east of dirtmouth is a locked door, to unlock either use 950 geo or go to city of tears, go to west of the hollow knight monument and jump on the platforms, on the right will be hidden rooms you will see from the platforms. there is a key in one of those, grab it and unlock the door. after that go to sly in dirtmouth and buy a rancid egg for 60 geo, give it to the npc in the room you unlocked and the npc will teleport your shade to you, kill it and take back your hard earned geo.

950 geo is used to buy the key from sly in dirtmouth

This game discourages exploration? I'm pretty sure it just discourages running headfirst into walls.

Yeah I didn't see a way around it so I tried going over it. I thought it'd be killable using my soul when it exposes it's face, but nope.
It blurs the line of "enemy you outright avoid" and "killable creature" so I went back to it trying to take it out.

I'm less complaining about the geo and more about the mechanic in general - Which 'hinders my exploration' by having me go on the sidequest of getting back my shade, filler-type.
Wish the bench could be used as an ATM, so we can avoid having to go back and forth managing geo loss ~ bank trips.

Yeah I find it's much more satisfying to farm a difficult boss, etc. But I'll cheat if it means giving myself something I had already and lost because of some lame reason, and I won't feel bad at all.

It is a very killable monster. It just takes a little bit of time and patience. I think what YoWhatsUp meant to say is, wait until it opens up its face, HIT IT, then dash away. Don't just wait for it to open its face and dash away without hitting it, lol. If you move towards it as it's opening up its face, dashing away becomes much harder. This sounds crazy, at the start, when you're facing that monster, while its mask is closed, spend more time standing still than chasing or running away from it. The monster does that part of the work for you. Wait till it opens its face up, hit once, dash away. Appraoch him again, keep a little bit of distance, stop, wait, then repeat when he opens up his face again.
You can give Rancid Eggs to Confessor Jiji and she'll summon your Shade so you can get it safely, rather than having to return to your potentially hazardous deathpoint.

Also, it sounds like you encountered a Stalking Devout. These are one of the more dangerous enemies. You should try to avoid fighting them if you haven't upgraded your Nail to at least Channeled and gotten the Shade Soul spell upgrade. To avoid their double damage attack, its best to dash into them and take the 1 point of contact damage instead.

The point of losing Geo on death is not meant to discourage exploration, but rather an insentive to improve your skills.

I thought one of the cleverest parts of this game is how the fear of losing geo kept me on edge and invested in staying alive, even though (in hindsight) the money meant almost nothing and was absurdly easy to replace. The game made me fear death even though there was no real reason to.

Try soul steel mode to better enhance that feeling. Maybe even play with a 'no restart' rule to fully immerse in the hardcore experience.

Here's my cheap strategy: I run into them before they attack (collision damage is 1 as opposed to 2), and then spam attack while it tries to kill me ( from the collision, you're given Invincibility frames). Rinse and repeat until its a dead spider. It may not be how you're SUPPOSED to kill them, but hey, whatever works works.

Walking back and worth between banks, shops and not feeling free to explore due to geo is annoying.
Discouraging exploration in a genre about it is negatory

Annoying at start, but feels romantic later.

Sorry for your money, sometimes game feels unfair, but that is what makes you watch your every step. I lost tons of money too, but believe me, you'll face much worse things. 6000 geo is a pretty huge amount, so travelling with it is a huge risk.

Also bug that killed you, it's huge. It had to be enough to make you feel how danger he is.
