On the plus side, you don't really need to perfect every single encounter, since you get a resting spot after every 5 fights. But the last few bosses... you really do need to master those ones. There are other threads talking about tips for Nightmare King Grimm, and I would also suggest training against the Pure Vessel until you can take him down confidently almost every time.

Personally, I would have recommend to practice the Absolute Radiance until you can win very consistently; her attacks do overlap, but you can make sure you're not near the attacks when they do, so you can avoid taking damage from them, and there's quite a few healing opportunities. Once you can beat her consistently, you don't really risk losing an hour of your life because you lost the fight.
FWIW, at least it sounds like your final attempt was at least epic!
