Help with Lost Kin?

I've got the movements and dodging down, but it's the stupid infection balloons that keep stopping me from beating him. When I'm trying to dodge Lost Kin, they get in the way, causing me to take damage and likely fall into an attack from the boss himself, but when I try to focus a bit more on attacking them when they spawn I always fail the fight anyway due to losing focus on Lost Kin and getting caught in a combo of balloon and boss damage. I have a fully upgraded Grimmchild charm and he tends to remove the balloons well, but quite often he accidentally attacks Lost Kin instead or the number of balloons that spawn is too much for him.

I have all charms and upgrades (including the pure nail) and I've also gotten all vessel / mask fragments. If anybody could suggest some strategies or charm loadouts that'd be great.

Thanks for the advice. I thought defender's crest was useless but it seemed to help a ton in the fight and now I've beaten Lost Kin.

It's not too hard without the Defender's crest either; you just need to time when you take out the balloons, and be sure to use only horizontal slashes (upwards slashes or downwards slashes affect your vertical momentum too much and you'll get caught in one of Lost Kin's Dash Slashes)

While he is qute easy with some practice, there is no denying about the Defender's Crest effectiveness in this fight. You can focus on LK and when he is stagged, you can calmly heal yourself, without worrying about the baloons.

When it does an ordinary jump, move towards it so that it jumps over you. Most his I take are just from walking backward and having it hop on top of me.

I beat him first try - wich means sadly I dont remember most of the fight. So my question, since I never uses defender's crest - what does it do in that fight wich makes it easy?

The clouds it leaves behind destroy the infection balloons in one hit. My issue was not being able to dodge them while focusing on Lost Kin, so it helped out for me a lot.

cant u just hit them normaly and get soul from them?

You can, but as I said its hard to focus on both since focusing on the balloons might get you killed by lost kin and focusing on him will let the balloons group together more and give you less space to move.
