How to Attack Fast
Hey everyone. So, I've watched a couple of Pantheon speedruns, and noticed that people seem to be attacking WAY faster than I can attack even though I'm on keyboard and use quick slash. Is there a certain timing or something to attacking to make it much quicker?

Guys, read?
OP already clearly stated they are already using Quick Slash.
Anyway, I dunno; I noticed the fast attacking thing as well in videos, but I can't reproduce it locally.

And then 3 out of 4 repliers completely ignored that part. 112/10 help, ladies and gentlemen.
(Also I don't know the answer, sorry)
I noticed that if you wildly button mash the game eats your inputs a lot, I've felt the same thing before but can only recreate it now if I button mash with a very poor rhythm so that might be it.
In general this game has a habit of eating inputs if Hollow Knight is in an animation, I don't think it holds them under any circumstances. So be mindful of that when timing your inputs.

Quick slash + steady body

Timing your strikes might work.
Other than that, it might be something about how one perceives the speed of fights, for example :
When i fight a boss, the fight looks (to me) like it's going relatively slowly, but when i watch someone with a lower skill level play, for me the same fight suddenly seems to be going faster.

steady body does not change attack speed combined with quickslash.

While this thread is dead, an I am replying after 3 years but for people like me who might read this in the future:
They are faster because instead of mashing buttons, they do it in a rhythm, as the attack has a timer, as long as the attack animation is on screen another attack cannot be done and there is a natural cooldown for attacking which is longer than the attack animation. So if we mash buttons, the inputs will get eaten and by the time we attack again it would have been some time after the cooldown has ended, so the most efficient way is to attack in a rhythm.
Also, for how the speedrunners attack so inhumanely fast when they have quickslash equipped, that is because the nail natural cooldown becomes lower than the amount of time it takes for the animation to finish when quickslash is equipped, and another attack cannot be done until the attack animation is over. So, if you turn around after every slash that attack animation gets cancelled and you can attack based on the cooldown of the attack rather than waiting for the animation of the nail swing to be over.
