Neglecting Sly
Is it possible to finish the game without saving him?

The only key item the he sells is the Lumafly Lantern, but I want to know if there is any area locked because we don't have this item.

You don't need the lantern, but there is an area later on that is near to pitch black, & they're several items you wouldn't be able to get in different areas. (So say bye to 112%) In other words, you can finish the game without saving sly.

I know that I cannot 112% the game without saving him, because he sells some charms, but I wanted to try this challenge.

You used to not be able to because there was a toll gate blocking access to the Distant Village that you couldn’t interact with in the dark, but they removed it in I think Grimm Troupe.

U can ignore lantern and might want to have some screenshots of the dark areas when they're lit if you start to lose your sanity in the Deepnest.

I was thinking the same thing. I may watch a walkthrough video of the area to remember where are the pits and other obstacles. Deepnest seems to be the biggest challenge without the lantern.

Yes (as the others have already answered) you can beat the game without saving him, furthermore if you save him after you obtained all nail master abilities the dialogue for waking him up changes aswel.

Nice to know. I've already got all the nail arts, and did not saved Sly yet. I will pay attention to his dialogue this time.

I've tried a few times progressing through Deepnest in the darkness now, but there is something that adds difficulty this this task.

When you have the lantern, if you hit a spike, you start in the closest safe ground. In the darkness, you start from the beginning of the screen.
