? this only happens when i use the analoug stick. and it will happen in the menus too

So, what controller are you using? Since it sounds as if it's the controllers problem. Not the actual game...

Maybe try using another controller if you have. Or maybe test it out on another game and see if it works. If it does, try uninstalling, then reinstalling Hollow Knight.

It may also be the version, if you aren't using the latest version.

Just a suggestion, since I have no problem when I play with a controller. :)

Almost certainly a controller problem, I have seen this problem across multiple forums, if your analogue stick is slightly worn, chances are that it sags a little in a certain direction, the game recognises this and thinks the slightly off center is the default, unfortunately you probably have to get a new control.

I had similar problem with a brand new controller. The way i solved it was putting it into a different usb port and it worked. Not sure why thou but hope maybe it helps you.
I hate when people tell me oh it's a controller problem when it clearly isint hollow knight has problem with controllers for sure i tried out 4 different controllers on hollowknight it often just cuts out the controlls and sticks into one direction

Using a PS5 controller over bluetooth here, no issues. Probably controller problem.
Buy an 8bitdo ultimate c controller, they go for $15-$20 and are better quality than Nintendo Microsoft and Sony. Played through the game with one twice and had 0 problems even on the craziest kaizo mario level platforming parts.

Which OS and controllers are you using?

I've a thread here that may resolve things for you:
