Aw no :( is it more cruel to leave the ghosts there, or to get their essence? I feel you though. It's easy to make a mistake. I feel like a cheater but I want my dream boss and my child back lol
Create backups first before any editing.
Try using bloodorca's save editor[bloodorca.github.io], find these lines (Ctrl + F) and try changing them to like this:
You'll probably also need to restore the Grimmchild charm:

Don't forget that in the save file folder there is also a backup save file, which may be before the banishment.

user*.dat.bak1 — auto-backup save file.
user*_[game-version-numbers].dat — duplicate save file of the main save file. Serves as a backup after any game update.
To make banishment available again, edit "brummBrokeBrazier": false
