The Price of Hollownest
I had a random thought. What is the total price in geo for everything you can get/unlock in the game? Obviously you can get infinite amount of geo from many sources so there is no point in calculating how much you can get. Maybe idea how fast you can get richer has some value. And you can basicly spend geo forever too (repairing fragile charms for example). But there is a minimal amount of geo that you need to unlock or get everything possible. So I decided to count it all. For fun.

So I summed up every single thing in the game that you have to pay for to get your hands on all the things possible. And I found every (1 in fact I think) way to get lower price or avoid paying for something and still getting it. Everything calculated twice. And here are my results.

Also before it:
Avoiding paying 50ish?(I don't remember) geo to open the gate to Crystal Peak by going to it from room above (desolate dive).
Tuk not included because he seems to have infinite amount of rancid eggs that nobody ever needs that much anyway.
Normal and Steel Sould modes do not affect prices in any way so it's for both modes.
If I missed any other gate/lift/something that has to be payed for or can be avoided to pay, I apologize. I did my best to find all the things that are to be paid or not.

So:
Opening stag stations: 1560
Unlocking benches: 800
Nail upgrades not including pale ore: 7050
Vessel fragment from Ancient Basin: 3000
Unlocking elevator in the left side of City of Tears: 150
Iselda's map shop: 1345
Leg Eater's charms (without repairing): 1286 (No discount) / 986 (With discount)
Colosseum of Fools (opening trials): 1350
Salubra's charm shop: 5410
Sly's shop: 9260
Oro's Nail Art: 800
Cornifer's maps (assuming that you buy all map's from him instead of Iselda's shop where maps are more expensive) [Also not counting Resting Grounds' map that can only be aquired at Iselda's shop.] :1079
Dvine's fragile charms upgrading: 36000

Total amount (with Leg Eater's discount):
.
.
.
{Drum rolls please!}
.
.
.

68'790 geo!

From which more than half is for Divine (you greedy, fat, gross buglady).
So here we have it. Almost 69 thousand geo to unlock and get everything possible in the game.

That's my little research I made about Hollow Knight.
What do you guys think about it? Is it worth it? Is it interesting? Is it meaningless? Is it fun litte thought?

So grind for 69k Geo, then never worry about it ever again(unless you die and lose it, which would suck).

This was quite impressive work. I've wondered this question myself. Since we're including optional content into part of the pricing, should we include millibelle's fee to opening a bank account? Also there's an entrance to the Crystal peaks that requires a small fee I think.

Dammit! I knew I forgot something! I was thinking about that bank ealier. Wait, wait, wait.... Bank account is optional and doesn't provide anything except possibility of earning more geo after few specified actions. So no. I don't include it because it can only consume some of your geo and then return more and move one NPC to just other location. So no, it's not required for anything, it's more of one time rich geo deposit with various amount of cash. (The way I use it.)
Also entrance to the Crystal Peak can be bypassed by entrence where Myla is as I mentioned in "Also before it"
I made the "necessary" payments that unlocks different things in the game. Optional one can go and go forever so there is no point for me to calculate them.
