Collector won't die? [Bug?]

I'm fighting the collector and I think I beat him, he's hunched over and looks like he's choking and just standing there. But I'm trapped in the room. I've tried hitting him with the dream nail a bunch of times and nothing happens and I've tried all my magic attacks on him which also do nothing.

Is he just bugged or do you have to do something special to finish the fight?

No, just keep whacking him like a pinnata with your normal nail.

No, he was bugged. I smacked him for several minutes with the nail. I had to warp out and do the fight again.

Was it fixed on your second run?

Yea. I'm not sure if this caused it, but I had that circling shield item. When he bugged, if the shield hit him, I would get a hit sound effect and he would flash white. But when my sword hit him, I'd get neither. So on the 2nd time through, when he got to that phase, I made sure my shield never hit him and I only hit him with my sword.

I think you should email team cherry with this bit of info. It's possible the shield thing was coincidence, but it's possible it might not have been.

Honestly, I've grown tired of sending them bug reports. I love the game, but I've run into so many bugs (no pun intended).

Well it probably won't get fixed unless it's been mentioned. I think I saw one other thread about the collector freezing besides yours, so it must be something reproducible.

Same exact problem, it´s probably caused by damage dealing charms. Beat the guy two times before figuring it out and it actually made me like him more...

I had this problem. I was using the two charms that spawn helpful adds. I had to warp and come back. That time I had the grimmchild charm and it still happened, but the collector died after some shots from the grimmchild. Even after it died, I still took damage if I stood where the collector was.

same thing happened to me. A few of the bosses (ie the stupid collector) glitch if you have any items that attack them after they've been 'killed' such as dreamshield, weaversong, defenders crest, or glowing womb. its awful when it happens and even worse bc dreamshield and defenders crest are my go to charms for bosses ;(.


ah well, live and learn i guess.
