Cant get essence

Killed false champion, Marissa, Grey Prince Zote and a lot of enemies with dream wielder equipped, nothing gives me essence. I'm stuck at 1789 ffs

Dream Wielder doesn't increase the chance of getting essence from norml enemies, nor does increase the essence given from dream bosses. It only makes your Dream Nail charge faster and increases the soul you get from using the Dream Nail on enemies.

No, that is actually a thing. He is right about Dream Wielder increasing the chance of getting Essence. That's its tertiary effect.

After obtaining the Dream Nail, enemies are given a 0.5% chance to drop 1 Essence on death.
If you equip Dream Wielder, the chance becomes 1%.
If you have recently used Dream Gate, the chance becomes 2%.*
If you have Dream Wielder equipped and also used the Dream Gate recently, the chance becomes 4%.*

*The bonus chance from Dream Gate only lasts from the moment you warp with it, to the next time you collect Essence.

Did you dream re-match Soul Master and Broken Vessel? They give the most amount of dream essence, I think.

You don't need to kill passive ghosts. What I recommend you to do, is to purchase a Warrior Grave (or something like that) and Whispering Root map pins from Cornifer's wife (whatever her name was). First one shows you the locations of warrior graves at which you can fight different minibosses I'd say, Whispering Roots are these essence trees. Look through the bosses' corpses, and you'll find more. On my main save file without killing too many passive ghosts I've got over 3000 essence. only passive ghost i killed was the grave digger in dirtmouth and I felt awful about it tbh. But yeah, the map shop sells markers that mark dream trees and warrior graves both give you a large amount of essence. Then a lot of the bosses you can fight again after hitting the bodies with the dream nail and get essence.


and the warrior no eyes in the greenpath gives you a decent amount of essence and she's fairly easy to fight as well. Marmu in the queen's gardens and the one in the deepnest are easy to fight as well.
