How do I get the shade cloak?

Apparently it is in the Abyss, which to get to you need the Kingsoul charm. I have the half of it from the White Palace, and I read the other half is after the Traitor Lord, when you talk to the White Lady. The problem is, there's a shadow gate to get to the White Lady, which you need the shade cloak to get past. Help please.

Edit: Alright nevermind. The Abyss opened up when I walked to the gate.

For clarity's sake, you don't need the Kingsoul to enter the Abyss, but the King's Brand, which you get from defeating Hornet in Kingdom's Edge.
