Loving the game so far, it has an amazing atmosphere and a great flow. I would love to enjoy it fully, so I'm hoping this bug gets fixed soon.
you can put the game in windowed mode and manually change the resolution there by resizing the window. then activate fullscreen and it should upscale the new resolution. try to make sure that the resolution maintains a 16:9 ratio(ie; 640:360).
Thanks for the reply! This workaround for some reason locks the game at 30 fps, and gives the controls some heavy delay. Vsync does nothing. The resolution does seem to have changed however since the games looks a little stretched.
I don't know if there is a solution to this. But it's consitently locked at 30 fps in fullscreen. If I play the game in windowed mode (which is what I do) with my screen resolutino set to 1280 X 720 I get a resonable performance of 50-60 fps.
Again this is not a huge issue as I can play the game but it does require some hassle which results in a not optimal gaming experience. If you have any other solution I would really apriciate it.
If your experiencing control delay, enable controller native input in the settings.
After resizing the window, check your video settings to see what the resolution is.
List of 16:9 resolutions-
- 1920 x 1080 (1080p, Full High Definition)
- 1792 x 1008
- 1664 x 936
- 1536 x 864
- 1408 x 792
- 1280 x 720 (720p, High Definition)
- 1152 x 648
- 1024 x 576
- 896 x 504
- 854 x 480 (480p, Enhanced Definition)
- 768 x 432
- 640 x 360 (360p, Standard Definition)
- 512 x 288
- 426 x 240 (240p, Enhanced Low Definition)
- 384 x 216
- 256 x 144 (144p, Standard Low Definition)
Bloom(glow effect), Depth of Field(parallax view fog), Film Grain(color desaturation), Motion Blur, among a few others.
Not to mention the current particle setting only seems to affect ambient particles, and the effect is so minimal that the fps difference is only noticable in particle heavy areas like Fungal Wastes.
As a result, the only real way of increasing performance is to lower the resolution.
This is one of the only two things that I dislike about the game, the other being contact damage.
I mean, if the world exists in 3-Dimensional space, you should be able to walk around an enemy in without them hurting you!
EDIT: I looked at some of the code using a DLL decompiler, and from what I can tell, all the graphics stuff (Bloom, ViewFog, DepthOfField, MotionBlur, etc) is in the file called "Assembly-CSharp-firstpass.dll". So, theoretically, if someone knows how to mod that file, they could change make the game run better?
Yeah, the gameplay could benefit from more detailed and logical movesets, where only the weapon blade part of an enemy's sprite would do damage and only druing an attack with said weapon, only the foot during a stomp attack, etc. Of course, the game is stellar already, but that would be a really neat improvement.
I'm using an XBox One controller to play this. Some of the time the controller won't respond to input. It's rare, but it occurs and it's caused me to get hit on several occasions. Either that or the controller gets hung up on the one direction I was pressing and stays stuck on it for a moment.
Any idea what would cause this? I thought maybe it would be the controller, but I'm just getting off of playing a solid 20 hours of Sonic Mania and I never ran into such an issue. For reference, at least.
The same thing happens to me when i'm running and try to jump, i thought it was a problem of my controller because it is old but now i see that it is a problem of the game
I'm not 100% sure yet but I think it may be caused by Sharp Shadow Dashing into spikes!
I was in the Abyss, when I accidentally SSD'ed myself into some spikes. It played the sound like I nail bounced on spikes, then triggered the hazard respawn. After which, I was unable to damage anything with Sharp Shadow.
