Friendly advice: Wait until you have all of the damage and health upgrades before even attempting the second crystal guardian fight. You also need a double jump to even get to it. Also most of his attacks won't hit you if you spam wall jump in the top corners of the room.

I don't really remember the first time I took down this boss because I took a month's break from this game. Actually didn't even realize there were two encounters with this guy because the first boss I fought when I came back to this game was this second Crystal guardian, and at the time I had forgotten about the first encounter. I guess he wasn't that hard or memorable to me the first time around.

The only thing I remember about this boss the second time around was I wasn't sure of any good safe spots to heal because the arena wasn't that large. I just tried to not get hit and pogo stick a lot. I remember dying a lot, but I also felt like it wasn't the hardest boss I faced yet. I dunno, my memory is pretty bad, lol.

It's not optional for 100% completion.

Since there is 106% available, even if you're going for the 100% achievement you can still skip the chrystal guardian.
Not that you'd want to skip the crystal guardian there, since there's more than 6% content that's much harder.
Obviously if you mean literally 100% as in do everything, it's not optional, but then, neither is anything else.

I didn't find it to be the hardest boss so far in my play through. I don't think it's worth skipping if you're going for the achievement

I thought the first was very hard, but I did it, just as I beat the dragon in cuphead. If I can do the dragon, then after enough time I can do second crystal guardian

I beat him on my 3rd or 4th attempt. My advice - just put in the 2 range charms and you're all set.

The second fight was actually super easy. He does do 2 damage, but if you use quick slash charm and go aggro on him wih some nail upgrades he dies before you do.
