Final Boss sprite missing
I made it to the end of the game, but The Hollow Knight only shows up as a black square, even after I cut him down. I've tried restarting the game, restarting my computer, and verifying the game cache, but nothing changes it. I've had issues with missing sprites before, but restarting has always fixed it until now.

I have never seen that bug before... Do you have a screenshot?

A missing or messed-up Hollow Knight Sprite has been reported several times before. I don't know if a solution was ever found, but you should try to find the older threads and see.

I haven't got one, but there's a screenshot of the exact same issue in this thread https://steamcommunity.com/app/367520/discussions/0/2217311444324005411/

Seems to be a problem for a number of people, though I haven't found anyone who's posted a fix for it.

Nevermind, I found a fix to it on my own. For anyone else who has the problem, it happens if you're using the "-force-d3d9" launch option that was recommended for less powerful systems. As soon as I got rid of that, he popped in no problem.

That looks so bizzare! Why have I never heard about this? I can't even begin to think of what could cause something like this.

Really? I still wonder what could be causing the bug though.

I just got rid of it completely. I won't pretend to know the specifics of it, but I do know that some systems have trouble with the Unity Engine, so perhaps that's causing the crashes? Or it could be a problem with Direct X 11.

For anyone else having the same problem even if they aren't using -force-d3d9, apparently putting -noheap into your launch options should work.

If it's been 2 more years here, maybe I have a solution to your problems! I was with the same error, so I went to check the integrity of the files and voala! solved the problem after downloading a missing file there! I don't know if it will help since 2 years have passed but this was my solution!
