Does beating Nightmare King Grimm get you anything decent?
Because i've been hitting my head against this wall for 8-9 hours now and no matter what I try I cannot beat him. I'm considering just banishing the Troupe for good because the fight is just no fun at this point.

You get the final form of the Grimm charm, which you probably won't use much. But the other path also gives you a charm you probably won't use much.
That's kinda disappointing, guess i'm banishing them then.

Have you gotten all the unbreakable charms? Because choosing to Banish them gets rid of Divine too. But she will stay if you do the Ritual.

Defeating a challenging boss/obstacle should be all the reward you need. I haven't personally played the new content, but I have heard from countless people that NKG is one of the best bosses in the game and a complete joy to fight, while being entirely fair. It's more about the journey than the destination, and you'll get more enjoyment from things if you just focus on the challenge in front of you.

Here's the gist of Nightmare King:
Its basically The Radiance, minus 100 health, give it contact damage, reduce the margin of error to less than a second, and give it a lot of attack patterns.
I like the bossfight! Have I legitimately beaten it yet? NOPE.

I have experimented with both charms using the Debug Mod. Personally, I prefer the Awoken Grimmchild over Carefree Melody.

Besides the obvious charms (strength, more hp, etc), try Sharp Shadow; it's a game changer.

Are you fully equipped with charms and nail upgrades? It may take like 1-2 hours to beat him, at least that was my case
By the way, fragile charms doesn't break in dream fights, so you can use fragile strenght as much as you like

I'm going the banishment route in my second playthough really, beating the Nightmare King is all the reward I need, the satisfaction feels so good
