Path of Pain
So it really does live up to it's name, but is there any way to save progress there? I've been playing for a while and I really don't feel like doing this anymore today, but I assume it would mean I'd have to beat the whole thing again. Is there a bench or a shortcut somewhere midway?
I'm at the part right after opening the gate btw.

Nope.
You can't ragequit.
The only real "progress saving" you can do is opening a door that skips a few sections. But you still have to start from the beginning if you leave.

Damn, and I'm really close to doing just that. Then do you know if I'm anywhere near the end of it?
BTW should the choirs be so desynchronised with the violins, or is it some bug?

If you ask me, opening the gate is about halfway, maybe more than halfway. You can do it! :hollowknight:

Thanks, I'll definitely give it some more tries

All right... I give up.
Maybe another time.
Hopefully.

I legit raged at this part. Only part of the game I did. I will come back to it at some point.

I've gotten to the part just before the end (in the long thorned hallway just before the two kingsmoulds). Numerous times I've considered leaving (not ragequitting, but going back to the bench and getting better charms). However, I realized that, even though I hit the lever allowing me to bypass most of the second room, I'd still have to deal with the first room again. And that's not something I could bear. So, my advice is to just get into a rhythm with what you need to and look at a guide. Eventually, after a lot of difficulty, you'll get to the end. At least, I hope so. Honestly, though, ♥♥♥♥ the path of pain.

It helps if you have the hiveblood charm, also soul nail the retainers for more soul to heal

This. with the hiveblood charm, every time you die by thorns etc, you wait a bit and you're back at full health.

Why not just watch a video of it? Not only will you realize it's not that long but you can maybe get some tips on how to complete it.

Ever played Aeterna Noctis? It's a whole game of paths of pain...but with more checkpoints. The game kicked my ass but I loved it.

Even better, grubsong+deep focus does virtually the same thing, but takes much less time at the cost of one more slot; even less time if you throw quick focus on as well.
