DLC Spoiler question
So I have read the DLC has 2 endings. The one were you defeat the second boss and get the grimchild charm, and the one where you banish the troupe and get the Carefree Melody charm. People who have finished the DLC, which one would you recommend doing? The grimchild charm ultimate form looks good, but I have found no footage of the carefree melody charm. Does the dlc comes down to choosing one charm over the other, or do the 2 different endings affect the game in some other way?

I think it won't affect anything whatever ending you choose.

For me, Grimmchild is better because it looks cute when used and I can take screeshot with it but the most exiciting part is you can fight against Nightmare King Grimm.

That is what I thought. I still would like to see the other charm, hope somebody uploads a youtube video of how it works. Does Divine leave the town after you defeat the Dream boss?

LISTEN DON'T CHOOSE THE "END THE RITUAL" ENDING, just did this, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my save file. the charm you get from this ending sucks and YOU CAN'T GO BACK. cannot reverse this decision.

Carefree Melody:gives you a chance to not take damage, based on how much damage you've taken.
Grimmchild: IDK I DON"T HAVE THE FULLY UPGRADED ONE HHHH

Yes I know, that is why I want to see what player did before I choose what ending to take. Can you tell me what Carefree melody does when equipped? is it like a shield or what?

I detailed the effects of the charms in the original comment :)

That why I copy my save file before I did the banisment troupe. The charm I get from banisment is not really that good it just had a chance to block damage from monster but I know nothing about the charm when defeat the nightmare king grimm and I dont want to know anything about it until I defeat the boss myself

I know, found a similar description in the wiki page "Carefree Melody: Contains a song of protection that may defend the bearer from damage" but it is a little vague, also found it takes 3 notches. Taking 3 notches sounds like it has to be a decent charm, but the description says it MAY defend... I am not wasting 3 notches for a maybe. Can you explain me how the charm works?

Carefree Melody have a chance to block any damage include 2 mask damage or more but the charm can't block damage from enviroment like spike, acid,... So this charm is RNG base.
While the Grimm charm when equip you have a little companion with you but the companion's AI kinda dumb because it will auto attack any target close to you even if you want to run pass them.

Carefree Melody will proc and make you take 0 damage every few times youre hit. Not being hit since the last time its activated gives a 0% chance itll activate, being hit once gives 10%, twice gives 20%, etc. It maxes out at 90%, so theres always a chance you can be hit, however it can completely nullify 2 mask damage hits. The grimmchild lv1 does no damage, lv2 does 5, lv3 does 8, and max level (defeating nightmare king grimm) does 11 damage per shot. Its up to you what you want, but once you get one, you cant get the other. Also, getting Carefree Melody adds a new NPC to Dirtmouth as well as change Dirtmouth's music to a different instrument.

Just making a decision regarding the charms, I'd go for banishing. The Grimm-Child's attacking speed is way to slow and often he get stuck on sollid terrain and can't even hit the opponent.

Carefree Melody on the otherhand can be really helpfull, > only if you get hit alot though! <

---
But to sum things up, in the end I didn't use any of them against Hollow Knight (and the"true" final boss)

It is so much more important to convert the "Fragile Strength" into "Unbreakable Strength by Divine.

After that you wouldn't/shouldn't waste your notches on one of the Charms you asked about.

Others than that, I'd always go for the Nightmare King, He's the hardest Boss in my oppinion and much more fun to play against, insted of dodge him and just banish the hole Troupe

:delsmile::BSheart:
Do the Ritual.
If you choose Banishment, Divine will disappear even if you haven't gotten all of her charms, and you will lose the Grimmchild charm. You will also miss out on a journal entry and some unique dialog from the Pale Lady regarding the Grimmchild. Not to mention the fact that the Nightmare King is one of the most epic bossfights in the game.
All that happens if you do Banishment is a new npc shows up in Dirtmouth and you get the charm "Carefree Melody".

Carefree Melody has a 10% chance to negate the damage you take on every second hit. The chance increases by an additional 10 to 20% after each hit you take, but the chance cannot go higher than 90%. After a successful block, the chance will once again reset to 0%, then to 10% after taking damage again, and so on. It can block any amount of damage, so it can be useful for enemies that deal more than one mask of damage at a time, keep in mind that it does not prevent knockback. It costs 3 notches to equip this charm.

The original poster hasn't played hollow knight in some time, but if you check out his achievements, he has already completed the banishment...and the ritual. He's run this game more than once because he has almost every achievement in the game completed, including the steel soul run. So there's no point in trying to convince him to do one thing or another because he's already done both. Also, this topic is pretty old.
