Xbox One controller trigger buttons

So this game has been working fine with my XBone controller but I got to the point where I get the dash ability and that's set to right trigger which didn't work. I tested it out and the dash ability works on other keys but it's just my trigger buttons that aren't working, both left and right. It works fine in other games like Dark Souls but not in Hollow Knight. Is there any way to fix this?

Same this is bizarre,Might have something to do with big picture mode or something.

I've had this happen, I fixed it by turning on big picture mode and messing around with the controller presets

If Windows, turn on Native Controller Input (Options > Controller) (exit then re-open game for change to apply).

Having over 90 hours in this game, all of this with controller, it's ridiculous to say that when we've never had a problem before. Especially since a controller is the recommended way to play the game.
