Dream Nail - Overgrown Mound
So I was revisiting the Overgrown Mound to see if there was any last things I could've missed. I used the Dream Nail on the corpse thing that resembles that one shaman that taught you the projectile spell in the crossroads, and it said "Hear...me..."
But does nothing else. What am I supposed to do with it? That can't be all it's for, right?

It actually does nothing. You can use the dream nail on a lot of dead/dying things (notable example, most of the corpses near money items like Wanderer's Journals and the like), and they'll say a line or two, but no further interactions with them are possible.

Isn't that the thing that teaches you howling wraiths?

Actually, yes it is for that. That is the snail thing's main purpose, I should've probably mentioned that in my post too just in case.

It won't do anything anymore (or rather, what I meant before was that dream nailing it does nothing) but that's where you got the spell the first time around the area.

Oddly enough the devs did plan in their kickstarter for the nail to have a much bigger role...

Can only assume that never got out of the concept table

From an AMA they did on reddit, the dream nail was originally going to let you delve into the dream of every NPC. They scrapped it because it took away from exploring hallownest and just felt disjointed in general.

Oooooo
Okay. :P

The dead guy of the species responsible for spells right next to the spell that lets you hurt things by screaming says "Hear me". Yep, those words can't mean anything.

I would imagine that they dream nailed it while backtracking, having forgotten that they acquired Howling Wraiths there.

Ye, but I did remember getting the wraiths there, I just wondered if the snail guy did anything. :P

Ah, sorry for assuming then. The 'hear me' is just letting you know the source of the spell if you hadn't figured out the snails teach you all the spells I guess.
I always figured 'hear me' was due to the vocal nature of the spell essentially being a shout

I think it's also a minor hint towards getting Abyss Shriek, as if you Dream Nail the platform in that room it says "Our voices shall cry out again" or something along those lines. Just a small thing to hint that the two are linked.
