When is it safe to heal?

I don't think it ever is. You just have to dodge and attack him constantly

^ this. You might be able to heal when he's hovering, but if you do get one off then it was probably just luck that the bullets missed. Phase 2 is too aggressive to reliably heal.

Best time to heal *and if you get that far* is when he distroys the floor, get to the left edge quickly to avoid falling in and that will be your breathing time.

You don't have to fight him so soon tho, you could go around collecting more if you feel out matched by him.

If you've got Quick Focus, you can heal when he starts summoning the homing orbs. If not, well, concentrate on dodging, and using your soul for vengeful spirit rather than healing.

Just a note, you can only do this on repeat fights. This is irrelevant most of the time, and TC has already clearly made it to phase 2, but for anyone reading this who hasn't made it that far yet, because of the fakeout between phases the first time you get that far it's impossible to get to the left fast enough.

Oh my bad, I saved up my power to heal after he falls and then take him on from below, in that second phase, he does not really give you time to heal.

You do have time to heal, when he summons 6 balls circling him. Get into the center then heal, you can do 2 heals at that time even without quick focus, really safe. It's also the best time to attack, you can deal 2 damages or more if you're fast enough.

Yeah Soul Master was easily one of those fights that I only made it out on a sliver of my masks...

I just killed it after getting another mask and the channelled nail.
After I got the ability from him, I went to to top entrance to the crystal area in the forgotten crossroads so that I could break that platform.
Singing miner bug had become hostile.
It was sad.
