Steel Heart = complete
Had to say it somehwere, i think other players would appreciate what kind of a challenge that is.

It was really fun though. Took me three attempts. First one ended with a stupid death on trial of conqueror (had about 90%), second one ended in me failing some dumb platforming sequence in greenpath.

Some advices for those who want to attempt such thing:
  • Use fragile charms. I cannot stress enough what a big game changer fragile health was during my third playthrough. It just makes things so much easier and does not cost a lot. Fragile strength is another great charm to use. I've found it to be useful even when you get the Pure Nail - God Tamer just melts under so much damage.
  • Don't rush and take your time when you can. If you get to 1-2 health press escape, return to menu and load up again. Sounds like a cheap trick but it will save you so much time, believe me. Upon loading you'll respawn at the last bench you visited with full hp and new map info you've gathered, aswell as new items and all that.
  • If you don't feel confident while roaming some area consider rotating back, getting another nail/mask upgrade and coming back. It shouldn't be a big fuzz even if you're trying to do this in 20 hours.
  • Try to rush the traversal abilities as fast as you can. If you're doing good you might do that in about 2-4 hours. After that all that's left is some bosses, stuff to collect and colosseum. This is a very important step because it opens up a lot possibilities for you. There's no need to start collecting stuff if you don't have your tools because this way there are more chances you'll just die to some random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
  • Use community guides. Huge shoutout to Blankdud for his 3hr speedrun guide that provides some insanely useful routes for you to take. Also i'd like to thank Demajen and LikeABoss for their Full Map and 100% achievements, which make your life so much easier in tracking progress that's left and gathering all kinds of collectibles.
  • Never gonna give you up. If you're determined to do that then you already have everything you need. It's really not that difficult once you start getting the hang of it.
  • You can practice some bosses on other saves if you're having a difficult time dealing with some of them.
  • Just have fun doing that. The game is incredibely good and controls are very satisfying. Turn on some podcast, music or show on the background so that doing the same locations and bosses does not become a repetitive chore, take regular breaks if you start feeling bored or dizzy.

I guess that's all. I'd be glad to answer your questions in case you have something to ask. Like maybe some strats for bosses or other sources of info on 100%. Somewhere on reddit there's a google doc with every single collectible item and description on where to find it, aswell as some other useful info.

I'd like to say Team Cherry a huge "Thank you". About a month ago a friend of mine suggested to play that game, but i didn't give it much thought and decided to try it out some other time. When i finally got to Hollow Knight i realised what a huge mistake i made by not getting to it earlier. You guys are incredibly talented and i'll make sure to keep an eye out on any updates from you. I've had many hours of fun throughout all the playthroughs, including the failed ones.

Thanks. It was a great adventure.

I am still trying to finish my first run 100% "98% now"
And I gotta say ...I really find the "Steel heart 100% completion "Achievement to be utter bs.
Since there are some bugs right now that will cause you to die and imagine them happening when you're 98%.

I seirously love this game but that achievement ...I can never see myself doing , the "Finish game in steal heart mode" is very reasonable since now I am good at the game even won the collesum all 3 of them in a row without losing or even reaching critical condition since I figured the game out

Still wouldn't want to do another 100% that has a chance of getting completely annhilated by a simple bug.

Gotta say I agree with you this game is bloody outstanding and now I am dying for them to make another one : )

Nice, congratulations on the completion. I'm going to attempt this too, when I get some time.

What bugs are you talking about? I've only encountered couple of annoying ones during my playthroughs, like soul twisters would leave their spheres flying around upon teleporting to other locations, or some random hit from another creature would set me stuck in the textures.

Stuff like those soul things that would leave the spheres like you said especially in the Colosseum of fools ...I had around 9 spheres stuck and cannot be removed which caused fps to drop slightly and well the other effect is obvious ..death.

The thing where you touch water and the game freezes slightly according to devs last update "fixed" it I am still having it and causing me sometimes to take unnecessary damage.

This happened to me once causing me to die, I had 2 hp left and then my character just ***ing glitched out and kept going left and there were spikes there and I lost one hp and literally the moment I respawned went left and died again
Respawned in bench and kept going left non-stop controller wasn't stuck at all I even disconnected it and no use, the game just went coco restarted game and it worked.

Among other minor stuff that caused me to die a couple of times.

Also wanna see something funny as hell ? Do the super dash and while doing it double tab the "Map" button in your controller to open the "world map " XD Just see what happens

I think i've read somewhere that they've scrapped the idea. I might be wrong though.

Feels bad, man, i never had such severe cases of glitches. Gonna try that map trick though, thanks.

Congratulations for joining our "Less than the 1% of players so far that got the Soul Heart Achievment". Come have a seat and here is a cookie... You cant eat it... No one can...

Anyway, true, those Fragille Charms are truelly a game changer - Fragille Strenght with Pure Nail makes you such a power house that, with that charm that makes you recovery time after hit longer, you can just stand in front final boss at the Trial of Fool and hitting him till he die and lose only like 2 HP.

A simple realization of a challenge done is good enough for me. Besides i had fun in the process. I barely used the recovery time charm tbh. Seeing as i had to play defensively i thought i better get some charms to avoid getting hit, rather than tanking and dealing more damage in the process.

Neglect was my last achievement and I just got it. Grats on Steel mode. I've never been more afraid of bugs (glitches and otherwise) than getting close to 100% completion on Steel mode. Once the White Palace was finished I just prayed nothing would kill the save.
