Defeating Stalking Devouts?

These enemies in the Deepnest are giving me serious trouble. I killed the first one no problem since I could pogo slash from above, but the others are in corridors and you're forced to fight them head-on.

Any tips on dealing with them? I can't find an opening after their slashes.

I only have 5 casts per tank of Soul and they can eat all of that. Any other strategy I could try?

Stand in front of them and wait for them to attack first, you'll always have time to hit them once and then dash backwards to avoid their swings. Takes a minute for them to actually decide to hit you first sometimes, so just bait it out.

If you have the Great Slash nail art, you can use that for more damage as well.
