What Down B Areas Are There Before Getting The Power?
I remember seeing quite a few "jiggling floors" to Down B, but cannot remember for the life of me where they are. I remembered the big one that leads to the Crystal Caves, but can't remember any others.

The areas I'm meaning are The First Underground Area (can't remember name), Greenlands, Fungal, Fog, Deepnest and City of Tears.

Here are two places I can recall off the top of my head:

1) Room immediately to the right of the entrance to Fungal Wastes from the Forgotten Crossroads

2) Shortcut back into Fungal Wastes above the gate that closes behind you after using the City Crest.

There's nothing else that immediately comes to mind, although there might be a few other shortcuts it opens. You'll find more paths to open with it in future areas, however.

Thanks. I think there might also be one in Deepnest but I could be wrong.

In the tram area where you get the Y powerup has a coffin that shakes

There's one more in "Kingdom Edge" at the right of the Nailsmith (near the Punching Ball guy xD )

While these two locations are both places you can use the power, the op asked for places in the game where you can use Desolate Dive before you get the power. Both of these locations are usually encountered later in the game and aren't in the list of areas he posted.

The game is not linear wataniyob. Not to contest anything but it's hard to know exactly what he've seen without his own map ^^'

SPOIL, answer for wataniyob
I get the Y powerup before getting the "desolate dive" too, probably like Lusoka.
For example if you buy the lantern in the Sly's shop you can already have access to "Resting Grounds" and even take "Heart Crystal" (not sure about the last, but for "Resting Grounds" I'm 100% sure about that ^^. You don't need to know how to break floor by passing the dark road.)

Think I dryhumped the whole map once I got the pound and there were 0 areas like that there.

You do realize the op posted the areas he's been to in his opening post, right? You know, the stuff hidden under the spoiler text here:

And for your info I know the game is highly non-linear. I know plenty of ways you can get stuff in different orders (e.g. Crystal Peak access after lantern or Desolate Dive, Fog Canyon Cornifer/Queen's Gardens access with either Shade Cloak or Isma's Tear, City of Tears access with City Crest or Tram Pass, etc.), but I am being spoiler-safe by giving him places to use Desolate Dive in areas he's clearly listed in his opening post. By not doing so you're edging into potential spoilers.

Lemme hijack this thread too because I'm also on the same boat, I just got the desolate dive and can't remember the places that need it.

Places I've been to: Crystal Peak, City of Tears, Forgotten Crossroads, Fungal Wastes, Greenpath, Howling Cliffs, and a little bit of Fog Canyon.

And the only places that I've so far used desolate dive is in the area connecting the forgotten crossroads and fungal wastes (fossilized goam) , and the big loss ground for an alternate entrance to the crystal peaks.

I like these types of games, but this is the part that I really hate about them...I always forget the places where they require a key, skill, or equipment...Ugggh.

A few places immediately come to mind in the areas you've listed:
  • You can open up a shortcut between City of Tears and Fungal Wastes if you head above the gate that locks you into the City after using the City Crest from the City of Tears side.
  • If you've found the Crystallised Mound in Crystal Peak, you can use the dive to progress beyond the starting room.
  • It opens up a minor shortcut back after retrieving the Joni's Blessing charm in Howling Cliffs.
You'll find much more use with Desolate Dive in the areas adjacent to City of Tears.

Addendum: Side room in the right vertical shaft in Crystal Peak has a breakable floor which leads to a room with a Rancid Egg and two Geo crystals.

Found one above the bench in Royal Waterways

And there's another one right below the bench.

Please don't necro a post that is a year old for an answer you can search in 2 minutes.

You need to adquire the Desolate Dive spell from the Soul Sanctum in the City of Tears.
