Anyone have a good method for getting into crystal peak without the downsmash or lantern?
So I'm trying for a speedrun on version 1.0.1.4

I'm at about 17 minutes, and I have the fireball spell, dash, and mantis claw, so that's ok so far. I maaaay want to restart as I lost 2 minutes to fighting false knight when I could have just abandoned the fight after the first cycle (but this is dependent on getting into crystal peak, and therefore skipping the city crest entrance to city of tears, ha ha)

I'm trying to get crystal dash without having to do soul sanctum or get the lantern. Anyone have a good technique for this?

I can get into the wall here, and it definitely works as an entry point if you have double jump, as you can float down to the lower exit and jump up into it, but without I mostly float by.

Trying to get into through the dark entrance mostly ends with me falling to the bottom of the play canvas and being unable to get back up to the right door, but, if anyone has a good technique of using that entrance, I'd def give it a shot. I thiiiiink it maybe spawns you above the doorway, off canvas, so there might be a way to quickly latch to the left wall, and perhaps get above the tiles, which would theoretically let you walk over to the right door and fall in.

I believe thorn warping was patched out, or I'm just terrible at it, so the thorn warp to get in is unviable currently, unless I'm just doing it wrong.

Well, I think the Crystal Peak can only be accessed by either the lantern / the dive. Can't be helped.
I don't know any other viable path, not even by glitching out, tho :/

How'd you get it down to 17 minutes, exactly? Just going really fast with no deaths?

No deaths, take no damage leaving you all your soul juice to deal damage with, don't do the shamans little area because it wastes time if you know how to use the fireball spell already, skip the majority of greenpath by baiting the mosquito up to the platform where hornet is and bouncing off it to get there, and then skip most of fungal waste by glitching your way into the wall above mantis village and basically dropping right down onto the mantis claw.

Use strategic benches to warp back to after achieving objectives so you don't waste time backtracking.

I started my current speedrun with the goal of getting it under 5 hours for the achievement, but then I figured "why not just do it as fast as I can?". Won't be WR material, but it's fun to plan out the route and test all breaking points in the map.

I'm aiming for under 2 hours, maybe an hour, buuuuuut I really need to figure out how to get into crystal peak, ha ha ha.

I know it's possible, I've done it with one of my 100% chars, but I can't seem to reliably get in with my current speed run char.

see this series for an example of getting in:

Basically hugging the wall while falling down past the smashable floor, and then quickly dashing over to the "exit" in the bottom of the shaft before you end up falling forever and soft locking.

If I caaaan get in, I think I know a way to watcher without double jump, and then I can do deepnest without lantern by just playing the area blind, and then I think I can do teacher and hollow knight with no charms or upgrades. Just don't get hit, basically.

You want to success to reach the end under 2 hours with or without Glitches so ?

Def with, a lot more fun to me as they're pretty challenging to pull off and implement well, as well as more creative (it's like getting a new item in the game and thinking of all the places you might use it, except, in this case, your item is knowing how to manipulate the game a bit).

Problem is most runners are using V 1.0.0.6, so I'm kind of in uncharted waters in terms of route creation, ha ha. I thiiiink thorn warp is patched out, which makes a lot of the more common skips unviable, so I need to be a bit more creative in finding alternative routes. That's why I was wondering if anyone else is exploring it right now, ha ha.

Argh! Can't help you if you're "with" XD
But if you record that I'll be glad to see :)

Edit: If you've already buy the game I guess you can download it in the release version? ^^'
But you'll have to precise that you're not speedrunning on the latest version.

Yea, I figure worst case I can use tools to roll-back to the standard speed running version, BUT, I'd much rather use the latest, ha ha, and maybe find new tricks in it!
