I don't know any other viable path, not even by glitching out, tho :/
Use strategic benches to warp back to after achieving objectives so you don't waste time backtracking.
I started my current speedrun with the goal of getting it under 5 hours for the achievement, but then I figured "why not just do it as fast as I can?". Won't be WR material, but it's fun to plan out the route and test all breaking points in the map.
I'm aiming for under 2 hours, maybe an hour, buuuuuut I really need to figure out how to get into crystal peak, ha ha ha.
I know it's possible, I've done it with one of my 100% chars, but I can't seem to reliably get in with my current speed run char.
see this series for an example of getting in:

Basically hugging the wall while falling down past the smashable floor, and then quickly dashing over to the "exit" in the bottom of the shaft before you end up falling forever and soft locking.
If I caaaan get in, I think I know a way to watcher without double jump, and then I can do deepnest without lantern by just playing the area blind, and then I think I can do teacher and hollow knight with no charms or upgrades. Just don't get hit, basically.
Problem is most runners are using V 1.0.0.6, so I'm kind of in uncharted waters in terms of route creation, ha ha. I thiiiink thorn warp is patched out, which makes a lot of the more common skips unviable, so I need to be a bit more creative in finding alternative routes. That's why I was wondering if anyone else is exploring it right now, ha ha.
But if you record that I'll be glad to see :)
Edit: If you've already buy the game I guess you can download it in the release version? ^^'
But you'll have to precise that you're not speedrunning on the latest version.
Yea, I figure worst case I can use tools to roll-back to the standard speed running version, BUT, I'd much rather use the latest, ha ha, and maybe find new tricks in it!
