Failed Champion? Easy (well, almost) [Spoilers]
Here is recipe:
  • It would be good to have max possible health and last nail upgrade. Arts, spells, soul vessels are not important.
  • Charm combination: Joni's Blessing + Lifeblood Heart + Stalwart Shell + Quick Slash (10 notches required).
Now, all you have to do is to hit him until he dead. The only exception is his rage mashing attack - just stand aside for this situations, and hit him with your Vengeful Spirit/Shade Soul for all Soul you have.

You should have enough health to survive constant hits (even with 2 hp damage attacks), Stalwart Shell will give you some safe time after taking damage, and using Quick Slash, you can use all this time to land hits on him. Having 9 base health (without charms; with charms it was like 16-17 health), and losing 2 blue health while getting to boss, I've ended up killing him, while still having 4 health.

Well, this will not work on Soul Tyrant for sure

You don't really need lots of health to beat Failed Champion. It has very small set of patterns (as far as I remember, only five: jump at you and hit with the mace; jump away; send a shockwave; send three shockwaves sequentially; batter the floor with the mace wildly - this one it only does after you damage its soft "body"), and all of them are very easy to dodge, especially with the shadow dash ability. You just have to observe what it does, evade and hit back when it sits still.

Initially, I also thought that it is impossible to beat, but after several tries I've learned its patterns and it turned out to be the second easiest boss of all of the dreamer bosses (the easiest one, IMO, being the Soul Tyrant, I beat him on the first try).

Really? REALLY? Sorry, but after past half of hour, the words "soul tyrant" are causing uncontrollable rage within me. I have relatively no issues with leading to his second stage, but his falling attacks in second stage are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ INEVITABLE!!! I gave up on him for now, as safety of my not really cheap keyboard became real concern.

Hm, do you have stuttering problems, like many here do? Because I personally found dashing away from his falling attacks not that hard. Sure, the window between them is small, but there's nothing really impossible. I also play using a controller instead of keyboard, maybe it is also important.

I use gamepad. Constantly dashing is simply not enough to get out of area of damage.

Btw, just finished Lost Kin in first try by same tactics I've described for Failed Champion. So, for me, Soul Tyrant remains hardest of dream bosses.

lol the falling attacks are easy to avoid, just time your dash right, i dont think ive ever been hit by that attack. soul tyrant phase 1 is alot harder, but also a piece of cake once you know that standing in the right almost touching the wall/door you can just stand there and all you have to do is jump correctly upwards to dodge his EVERY ATTACK, not one of them can touch you if your position is correct and you have any skill evading the projectile attack.

then its just the patience of doing it some time since you can only attack him safely when he charges forward and when he comes at you with the 6 things around him.

done correctly its sooooo easy not to get hit, it leaves phase 2 which is easiest part of the boss, dash the falling attacks (time it right its 100% avoidable every time), then just go town on him, if you didnt get hit in phase 1 you really cant screw it up.

For phase 2 Soul Tyrant, try jumping, then quickly dashing a little bit off of the floor. The timing is MUCH more forgiving that way. Even without shadow dash, dodging the dives is basically trivial that way.

Big thanks, that definitely made this fight for me.

failed champion was a hard fight early on but eventually found an easy way to beat him and the other one by using dark vengeful spirit (might work with normal one with extra soul vessel) and using shaman charm+spell twister (spells cost less) + dream charm

stand at the edge when he comes jump to avoid him and dash to the other side then spam vengeful spirit at him and he will get down, when he does that he doesn't get up until you damage him again, so before you damage him get close and use dream nail to fill souls.
and repeat.

also when he's down i noticed the balls falling will stop so that helps.
some bosses does the same when they get down so using dream nail at that point could help alot, i can't confirm it will work on them but i did use this way to beat him and the other one.

None of the bosses are that serious. it's my 2nd playthrough of the game and I'm tearing most of them apart with the 2nd or 3rd nail, and 6 health with ease at this point.

You just need to practice, dodge, learn the tells to each move and GIT GUD! Vs. trying to trade hits with the boss over and over hoping to outlast him like some scrub.

Are you for real? How is it posssible to be hit by his falling attacks You just spam dashleft to right across the room and it's impossible to be hit. You don't even have to time dashes as he drops.

.........Id' rather keep ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ your mother while telling you to GIT GUD again. But yeah, some cookies don't sound like a bad idea right now either. ;)
That's crossing the line.

Now that I wonder - why you are even writing anything about this game, without even owning it?

soul tyrant isnt too bad, you just need to adjust your timing of jumps from when his projectiles go from 4 to 6 , otherwsie its the same as the master fight.
i didnt clear it yet bc i got sidetraxcked, btu i had him down to phase 2 on my 2nd try
