You were clicking too fast on a charm that you didn't have enough slots for. So it equipped it anyway and Overcharmed you. Now you take double damage from enemies but you're using more charm slots.

If you're fighting the end game optional bosses without using every tool at your disposable, that's your fault.

Actually you can hit the falling balls though and can even use it for more damage to said boss but I haven't tested hitting it upwards before.
